Wrong. Minnesota has been transformed into a Republican stronghold (Pub Guv, Pub Senator, Pub House, close to Pub Senate.) A vast majority of Minnesotans want spending cuts to balance the budget, and Pawlenty will be more than happy to provide that.

Ventura agreed to a tax refund for Minnesota citizens, but absolutely refused to reduce the tax rate.

When the financial situation changes for Minnesota, Ventura absolutely refused to leave us high and dry.

I may have other issues with Ventura, but this was a very wise choice.

In the last few years, when Minnesota had extra money, the Democraps went on a spending spree. Long term spending, and today, that is the source of your current debt.

Today, we must hold the people responsible up to the fire.

Like it or not Ventura actually did his absolute best to hold the line. If anything, I would complain that Ventura did not use his veto powers enough.

Don't count our chickens before they hatch (or Mike Hatch is gone - which ever comes first).

Minnesota is a state with a long, long record of socialist populism. In addition, our local media (with the exception of AM talk) is uniformly sympathetic to the DFL agenda.

It is true that we have driven a stake into the general vicinity of the beast's heart, but like any vampire film will demonstrate, they ain't dead until the stake is firmly drivent THROUGH the heart, nailed in place, the corpse dragged out into the noonday sunlight and flung into a swimming pool of Holy-water, the coffin burned and the coffin soil scattered in a church graveyard.

I TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED IN MINNESOTA POLITICS, I HAVE LIVED HERE TOO LONG.

Number of seniors who will be cut off of meal programs because of Bush budget...36,000 -Number of workers who will be cut off of unemployment insurance because of Bush budget...1 million -Number of families who will be cut off of heating assistance because of Bush budget...532,000 -Number of kids who will be cut off of after-school programs because of Bush budget...50,000 -Number of kids who will be cut off of child care because of Bush budget...33,000

They better get used to it. And I think you know why. In the immortal words of the junior Wellstone:

Here is the DFL having a rally like the Wellstone "memorial" when they were known as the NDSP.

This isn't the first time Minnesota has swung to the GOP en masse. In the 1978 election Minnesotans elected two GOP U.S. Senators (Rudy Boschwitz and Dave Durenberger) and a GOP Governor (Al Quie). The Minnesota House has leaned toward the GOP for quite a long time.

Like it or not Ventura actually did his absolute best to hold the line.

What on earth are you talking about?

Ventura complained about how hard it was to make budget cuts the very first week he was in office, and never made a serious attempt to do so afterward. The Republicans continually proposed cuts, and never got Ventura's backing, while Democratic spending increases frequently met with enthusiastic support from the governor.

Jesse was happy to take credit for giving rebates and balancing budget during an environment of surplusses generated by a booming economy. But as soon as there was a projected deficit, Jesse didn't propose budget cuts beyond the purely cosmetic (shutting down the governor's mansion, where he didn't live anyway). He proposed tax increases. His tax increase proposals were defeated by Republicans and Democrats. Of the three deficit solutions on the table, Jesse's was the most tax-and-spend style of all.

Not only did he not "do his best to hold the line." He was frequently the primary cause of moving the line in a liberal direction.

ANYTIME a Demosocialist uses a number, any number, you can be sure that number is one of two things...exagerrated or falsified.
