I have for some time suspected that CIA and Special Forces are running covert operations in the Badlands. We can't tell the Paks because half of the ISI is on the take by Al Qaeda.

Basically, Pakistani law has no writ in the Tribal Areas. So we've told the Paks that we're going in, but we'll try not to embarrass anybody.

As someone wrote above, it's hunting season: no bag limit.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

a rogue Pakistani border guard shot a U.S. soldier

Yeah, right - a Rogue border guard. I don't think so. The Paki's government is loosing control. We may have to help clean up that crap filled country too...

the ones inprisoned in Cuba because those where captured by our military in Afghanistan and not handed over to us by Musharraf.

While I don't think it is hundreds, Pakistan has turned over to the U.S. some islamists.

This does not them an ally! Musharraf has only sort of helped because he knew that we would take care of Pakistan at the same time we took care of Afghanistan if they got in our way.

This is a lesson we learned in Viet Nam. Do not give the enemy a safe haven. If the enemy moves into a "neutral" country, that country has a choice, make them leave, or we will come and get them.

International law makes allowances for combatants to enter neutral territory, but they are then out of the war. Once they create a base of operation it is no longer neutral, and no longer protected.

The left made a big thing over the "secret" war in Laos. There never should have been any secret war. If the enemy sets up base of operation in another country, they are fair game.

If Pakistan wants to maintain sovereignty over this region they need to control what is going on,they either have no control or they support what is going on.

If they have no control to stop the activities, they are not soverign and we can go in in pursuit of the combantants, and if they support the actions, they are not neutral.

The United States is starting the new century with new rules. If we go to war, we will take it to were ever the enemy is.

I agree with you. There is a new sheriff in town, and when he says something he means it.

US DOD needs to better develop our staffing and professional support for command positions.

"We do reserve the right to go after them and pursue them and that is something that Pakistan is aware of," said U.S. military spokesman Maj. Stephen Clutter. "In hot pursuit, we're going to chase down the bad guys."

Very poor choice of words, IMHO. I don't disagree with the act of pursuing criminals or 'terrorists' as such. By no means is it obvious that such actions are rights. Vengence is the Lord's, so exactly what 'right' is the spokesman referencing?

I suspect this was simply a very poor choice of words.

Seems like I remember hearing vague rumors.

One thing I do know, either this PIO puke is a idiot,or he has a idiot for a boss. Maybe even both.

I'd say hunt these miscreants and kill them wherever they might be. Images of people jumping from the WTC just won't go away.
