My wife and I saw him for the first time on a little news snippet (we obviously avoid network news) and the man came across as very smooth.
Somebody to watch out for, for sure. The camera is very kind to him.

That was just pretty wily of the neophyte Senator John Edwards, to accept the tutelage of an astute old politician like Robert Byrd, and glean so many good lessons, all the while being uncontaminated by the very dark side that had run through the Southern Democrats for well over a century, and has not even yet been excised.

One wonders if the Senator from South Carolina may have a history of being a closet racist and bigot. But of course any person's motives and thoughts cannot, by definition, be known very well by others.
