Catalog of Iraqi missiles:

Must been one of the liquid fueled little guys. Messy stuff, liquid fuel is.

There was an explosion. There were no casualties. DEBKA comes up empty once more.
To: RightWhale
Your source? (I mean that respectfully.) And the source of the explosion?
To: Lonesome in Massachussets
Gives credence to the story posted earlier on FR about Israel's charge that Syria and Iraq are secretly corrdinating military operations, which could mean a Syria/Lebanese attack on Israel when the US-led coalition opens fire on Iraq.

With all due respect, what is your source? And WTF exploded?
To: Lonesome in Massachussets
There was an FR thread this weekend. The ambulances rushed to the scene, but returned shortly, empty.

The ambulances rushed to the scene, but returned shortly, empty.Maybe the pieces were too small and too many to pick up.

I have noticed a tendency among FReepers to dismiss any news reports where Debka is the source, and, in truth, some of their stuff has been pretty wild. This report sounds fairly factual. It will be interesting to see if it is confirmed by more mainstream media.
As I got in my car this morning, NPR was doing a report on Debka. The report said that Debka has a good reputation in the corporate world and is paid good money by a number of multinationals for whom it provides the so-called "inside scoop" on Middle Eastern events. The reporter gushed about how Debka's scoops are often headline news on the wires a week or two later. Are there any intelligence experts or Debka experts out there who would care to chime in on this issue?

There was an FR thread this weekend. The ambulances rushed to the scene, but returned shortly, empty. They may have been turned away for public relations purposes, and there may not have been much left to pick up. Missle range accidents are nasty, especially if you don't have professional range safety and other adult supervision.

I assume you know the reputation DEBKA has around here. I must admit I go there to see their speculation on stories like this.
It doesn't sound to far fetched, DEBKA's line on this. Wonder what MOSSAD is saying happened?

Would but saying anything good about Debka is pretty much verboten.
Their track record if one has tracked their sayings and correlated them with info in the mainstream media speaks for itself.

According to our sources, the missile exploded suddenly, catching the Hizballah team handling it unawares and causing a large number of casualties, as indicated by the long line of ambulances and rescue teams reported by witnesses to be racing to the blast scene from northern and central Lebanon. Among them were Syrian military rescue vehicles. The Hizballah quickly sealed off the ravaged area, allowing no one through but the rescue teams, their own operatives and Syrian officers. Gee, I know I should feel bad...but I don't. Does this mean I have a bad attitude? lol

Debka ignores the obvious, as usual. If a recently delivered missile or large unguided rocket was involved, it was likely either booby-trapped or being moved by boobies.

That could well be because they couldn't find anything larger than a toenail. The blast echoed across miles and miles of land, it probably made chunky stew out of anyone who was nearby.
Let's hope that all the masterminds of Hizbollah was gathered around admiring their new mass-Jew-murder weapon.

I think Debka's most accurate about Israel and it's menacing neighbors. I'm still wondering about that Debka report claiming Chinese troops were fighting alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan.

That could be. It seems that DEBKA is much more accurate the closer the story is to Israel. Once they are outside the border the stories seem to grow fantastic.

I followed that thread yesterday about the explosion If I recall they were sent back before they reached the site of the explosion
My guess is that they did not want this mishap to be reported.

Just found the article interesting, FWIW. One might suppose that Hizballah are not experts in pyrotechnic safety. And the FAS site clearly indicates that if they were Iraqi missiles, they would have been liquid fueled, very dangerous in untrained hands. 'Course, maybe MOSSAD got in a lucky punch.
