I said that if a woman lied to me about her wealth while a relationship was forming, it would have a profound impact on me if I found out otherwise because of the dishonesty. If the woman in question was Petra Verkaik, it wouldn't bother me a bit.

Most guys I know in construction make more than 19K if they're even halfway competent (even 20 years ago when I was doing that kind of work and it was seasonal). How can one possibly be a construction worker nowadays and make only 19k?

, the real question is, will reality fans decide duping unsuspecting women goes too far, The combined I.Q. of the "reality fans" isn't high enough for them to decide anything.

Hard to say, it looks like they got a really good looking guy to play the faux multimillionaire, so they might look at him twice. Is his name Ron "The Hedgehog" Jeremy?

Oh I know more than a few women who have married for money and more than a few who want to. While it is true you can love a poor man or a wealthy man, make no mistake that there are more than a few out there who have no interest in the modest or poor man.
Way of the world, my father told me a bit of advice a long time ago... (more joking than anything, but still true regarding some women) Women love you for one reason and one reason only, its in your pants, and size matters....
It's called your wallet.

Check out "The Big Orange" by Joseph Wambaugh. He writes about a nightclub in Newport, CA where there are lots of women on the prowl to hook up with guys who are on the Fortune 500.

Personally I think this show is going to click.. I hate reality TV, because it is so staged and bawdy.... but what really turns me off is that they try to act and pretend like it isn't. Like survivor matters... its a game show, nothing more.
At least this one is being honest about what it is, and if these women are all catfighting for this poor schmuck because they think he's rich, it will be entertaining to watch how much a fool they will make of themselves for $$. I mean I can't figure out why 20 women would compete for some guy on a show like the bachelor, have some self respect.. but at least its not a $$ proposition generally. In this one it clearly will be.
So I think this one might just attact the reality cynics, who generally don't even watch the drivel.

Oh don't worry, I know there are. Any person with eyes knows there is at least a class of women who value their worthy by the men they sleep with. Another class that is only after money. So it stands to reason that there has to be a subclass that contains both traits.

The whole setup seems to be a misnomer. The bachelor is supposed to be a $19,000/year working class Joe (Joe Bachelor) yet he had to have drawn some kind of a salery as the actor in this "reality" show (ergo he made significantly more than $19k this year).

It's gonna be HILARIOUS to watch these women try to lamely justify their backtracking after they find out how much he really earns.

It's a combination of envy and prudery....Stern's capitalistic successes are resented by those more interested in "morality" than economic vitality.

My question exactly. That's less than 10 bucks an hour. I see where maybe he only nets 19K, or maybe that's all he shows as taxable income, but, come on...you can make 19K flipping burgers. Construction pays more than that. He can't be working at it full time.
