The Alphabetocracy astounds me, truly.

Cut taxes in half: Freeze government spending, except for adjustment for GDP deflator (inflation) for 10-20 years, and we will have half the tax burden we have today. That means less tax avoidance, more entities that WANT to be taxed under our laws, and less impact from tax avoidance.

It's not the same uh, chick I was thinking of. (Native of my hometown who sucked up to certain powers-that-be in Washington. Last seen married to the Demo candidate for US Senate.)

She still needs a good uh, uh, tar & feathering, yeah, that's what she needs...

All this talk of tax reform and the only time the individual is considered is when s/he's putting up money for corporations (investment). If you ain't "multinational", "cross border", WTO, Globalist, you ain't shit.

You've heard the adage: Be careful what you wish for.

I wonder how long before you and other sales tax shills, so desperate for a sales tax go 180, then start cheering the VAT as a consumption tax and the first step to your dream.

I wonder how long before you ... start cheering the VAT as a consumption tax and the first step to your dream.

Will never be supported, a VAT is hidden from the view of the taxpayer and is only an extension of what is already in place.

http://waysandmeans.house.gov/fullcomm/106cong/4-11-00/4-11kotl.htm

"Robert Hall, one of the originators of the proposal(Flat Tax), who describes his Flat Tax as, effectively, a Value Added Tax. A value added tax taxes output less investment (because firms get to deduct their investment.)"

"The Flat Tax differs from a VAT in only two respects. First, it asks workers, rather than firm managers, to mail in the check for the tax payment on that portion of output paid to them as wages. Second, it provides a subsidy to workers with low wages."

The reason the National RETAIL Sales Tax is supportable is because it is visible and not hidden behind the veil of product price and inflation and taxes on the basis of ones benefit from society as opposed to their contribution to society.

Every corporate tax, every income tax, is imposed on a citizen's contribution to society and the economy, rather than benefit received from society and the economy. That reason alone is sufficient to oppose VAT.
