I personally think Lott never should have been elected the Majority Leader after the '94 election.

That having been said, if I, as a white conservative worked in a restaurant where I would spit into black people's food, or ran around calling black people "niggers" (hymie town), or extorted money from large corporations and used it for my own personal benefit, or fathered children out of wedlock while counseling a corrupt President on how to walk the straight and narrow after Monica Lewinsky, I would be crucified on Pennsylvania Avenue and left for the birds to peck my eyes out.

But because this moron, Jesse Jerkson, is black, we all let him get away with it. When are blacks and whites going stand up to this extortionist. Enough is enough!

"Exactly what would Lott have to say for you to agree that there's reason for the criticism?...But in this case, it looks like Lott is championing the idea of segregation.

"Looks like"??

Here's where we ALL get into trouble masquerading as "thought police." Some of Lott's critics are close to accusing him of advocating slavery again. It's not as though Lott proposed segregation policies on the Senate floor, is it?

"Personally I don't care what gets Lott dumped as SML. I just want him gone and replaced by a GOP Senator with bigger cajones."

What does Lott's Senate ineptness have to do with letting the left define 'hate speech' and play 'thought police' once again?

It's Lott this time, but next time it may very well be YOU.

"However, holding elected leaders, especially the Senate Majority Leader, accountable for what he says is imperative."

Tell ya what -- toss the whole bunch in the hoosgow. The truth of the matter? IF someone wanted so, a "regretable" quote could dug out of the archives attributed to ANY members of Congress and the Senate that would make ALL of us cringe.

"Trent is a dolt. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I can think of 30 Republican senators that would be better majority leaders than him."

Yeah -- that's reason enough to have Jesse Jackson of all people railroad Lott out of town.

Grow up. The Left is a hotbed of racial animus and those minorities lap it up with nary a word of censure for those who spout lies more in tune with Naziism than American democracy. Day after day whites are libled, slandered, and even attacked and not one of those morally superior minorities ever seems to step up to the plate and ask for moderation. No, the psychopathology of white guilt will never win votes from minorities simply because the guilty only get sentenced.

And yet this same Left would just as soon crucify Lott for an ambivalently innocent statement, aided and abetted by naive morons on the Right and on this very board.

One consolation, we can say that we were alive during the most pervasive, destructive manias of all time the one that destroyed the greatest country of all time. White guilt and the auctioning off of America to the people who hate America and the people who built it ranks at the top for man made disasters.

America's own public schools and universities, academia, and media have indeed achieved what communism and invading armies could not.

Speaking Thursday at a 100th birthday party and retirement celebration for Senator Thurmond, R-S.C., in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Lott said, "I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either."

That's what all the fuss is about? Man, if we run Republicans out of office for telling who they wished had won a presidential election, we're really doomed. It's not like Strom is some fringe politician. His Senate record has been good, and he's served in the Congress for ... forever. For someone to be ruined simply because he says that man would have made a good President is ridiculous.

TQ: We have to expell the bigots from our midst

Missouri: There is nothing worse than a Conservative pandering to minorities,.. Lotts statements mean nothing.

Lack of bigotry is pandering to minorities?

I guess FR just acquired another racist from Missouri who misses good ol' times of segregation.

Welcome to FR.

JOKING? Except that no one laughed, more gasps of shock then laughs. He mentioned a segregationist campaign to honor the legacy of a Senator who has done so much more and much better, at the celebration of that Senator's 100th birthday. That was remarkably tastless and thoughtless of Trent Lott. Of all the things to praise about Thurmond he mentions Thurmond's (former) support of segregation.

Lott is not only spineless, he's a dunderhead of the highest degree. On top of that, he (his staff's) mastery of 'spin control' is dimwitted and half-hearted. Lott is a GOP time bomb that will take the majority down with him.

Who dare you call 'minority'? And who is 'we' and who is in your 'midst'?

Anyone who says 'we' (as in speaking for a bunch of people - not), 'minority' or 'diversity' is not worth of respect. Any ignoramus who does not know the difference between "who" and "whom" is certainly not worthy of respect.

Yes, I used "we" in reference to the conservative movement. Yes, the word "minority" has many meanings, including that used in political science to address voting patterns of the population. I do not expect you to know that, since you have poor command of the English language.

Further, I never mentioned the word "diversity;" you did.

Finally, I do not respect of bigots and those who are indifferent to bigorty. In fact, if I had respect of such people, I would think that there is something seriously wrong with my life. As it is, I am quite happy with it.

Grow up. The Left is a hotbed of racial animus

Only a thoroughly amoral person thinks that issues related to prejudice is a part of maturation.

One has to be not only amoral but immoral as well to justify hios own faults by vices of others.

Have you been to church or sinagogue lately? A conversation with your priest/minister/rabbi is overdue.

Day after day whites are libled, slandered, and even attacked and not one of those morally superior minorities ever seems to step up to the plate and ask for moderation. Ah, so you are going to be a nasty bigot just because Jesse Jackson is?

And you call this preserving your heritage?

No, the psychopathology of white guilt will never win votes Of course not.

But again, only a bad conscience confuses the absence of prejudice with guilt.
