I was listenening to Rush yesterday on KFI and they broke in for the sentencing. I was amazed that the Judge had to admonish her for not paying attention to him. It's obvious that this lady is out of anybody's control, especially her lawyer.

This sentence is in effect a jail sentence.

Heres why. It is a suspended sentence so she can be jailed for violating the terms of her probation. What is the likelihood that she will be in posession and/or under the influence the very first time she is checked? Based on her courtroom behavior I'd say it is nearly 100% certain.

Some folks think the Court is a pansy in its treatment of Ryder and other celebrities. It ain't. The Court is an iron fist in a velvet glove. She will be searched. She will be tested. She will be given a hearing to determine whether she goes to jail. She will go to jail. She will be released from jail to undergo drug treatment under Court supervision. She will relapse and get locked up again. The cycle will repeat until she cleans up or is found in that car with a needle in her arm.

People like her pass sentence on themselves.

Here's a point I forgot to make. Losing one's freedom from search and seizure without probable cause is a big deal for anybody. For a druggie it's about as serious as that final cardiac arrest.

Officers of the Court may have suspected that she was high during her appearances, but there's nothing they would do about it because of her right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure. She just lost that right. The next time she appears in court looking loaded it will be an entirely different experience for her.

The Judge knows it, you know and I know it.. But will Winona get it?

Remember the old Monsanto saying.. Life without chemicals would be impossible or such.

For Winona, Life without chemicals may be unbearable.

I hope she gets the help she needs. Am I optimistic? No.

Hitting bottom hurts like hell. I don;t think she has hit it yet.
