I can't wait for the third installment. The charge of the Riders of Rohan just as the Great Gate has been breached should make the battle for Helms Deep look like a Sunday School picnic.

Many of the gasps I heard from the crowd came when Legolas mounted his horse. It's a feat that must be seen to believed! I dont get this. I have read the books up until the storming of Isengard, but this makes no sense. Can someone explain this to me.(Dont worry about spoliers for me).

I took the 18th off as well. I'll only do that for two movie franchises, LOTR and STAR WARS.
I just can't wait to see this!

It is just cool... There is a clip of it here.... just loaded from TORN: It is the Warg attack clip.

I've bought my tickets and I'm ready to be entertained.
Unfortunately Viggo Mortensen (Argaron) is an idiot. I don't watch Charlie Rose on PBS, but I guess he was on it and he was very anti-Bush, anti-war on Iraq. He wore a T-Shirt that said 'No Blood for Oil', or something stupid like that.
It's a same, because he does a great acting job as one of the hero's in LOTR.

There was a one hour special on the local WB affiliate here in Albany, last night. They took the viewer behind the scenes to observe the various shoots during the filming of the 3 part epic. Each of the major actors and actresses shared some of their personal experiences. They also went into detail, describing the filming of Helm's Deep, which was done at night.
Great program!!!

It was an excellent program! - There are some clips from it above. Especially that Warg attack. Man, that is intense!

Thanks. Last night on the WB channel, they aired a special called
Return to Middle Earth which chronicled the filming of
The Two Towers. I think it said the filming of the Battle at Helm's Deep took seven months, and all at night.
They also showed a clip of an unconscious Aragorn being swept down rapids. Apparently during the filming, he almost drowned, and hearing Viggo Mortenson recount the incident was really interesting.
In one part of the film Gollum catches a fish. They showed how the actor who does Gollum for the CGI Gollum had to do four takes in a stream which they had set up big fans, and doused with fire hoses to melt the snow which covered the stream. He said it was so cold, he felt as if he had been hit in the chest.
I'm not sure if it will re-air, but it was interesting. Orlando Bloom who plays Legolos did his own stunts, and has become an accomplished rider, amazing in that he showed the scar where he had surgery when he broke his back just over a year before the beginning of the filming of Fellowship of the Rings.

I can't believe all you people want to see this racist flick--only kidding. I just saw the first Lord of the Rings over Thanksgiving and really liked it. I heard on Michael Medved yesterday that some reviewer from the Guardian is calling it racist. These people need to get a life. I also saw Harry Potter (the first) over Thanksgiving. I'm surprised that someone didn't think the little banker guys were meant to represent Jews but I forget that Jews aren't the left's favorite oppressed people these days.
Here's a link to the "racist" review

They showed this clip in the WB special last night (check your local listings!). And, yes, it is difficult to describe. Orlando Bloom underwent back surgery only one year prior to the filming of LOTR (he showed off his scar). The doctor's told him he would never walk again.
In this particular scene, he mounts the horse, while running in the opposite direction and swings himself around 180 degrees in mid air. Quite impressive!

I'm going to have to break down and see this in the theatre. I bought the DVD of Fellowship. I love the way they put it together. I'm still watching different parts of it.
I just started the video game last night. I'm more into rpgs than fighting games but so far so good.

It was a great show, and I wish it would air again. Do you recall them mentioning that they recently reassembled the cast to do some additional film footage? Did they say why?
I already anticipate that once the third and final installment is released, many of us will go into LOTR withdrawal. That happened to me years ago, when I finished reading the trilogy.
