Al Gore has been told since he was a toddler that he was "destined" to be president. With a severely limited amount of genuine intelligence, and a terrible set of political instincts, he came within a hairs breadth of making it.
I'll believe he's given up his dream of attaining what his segregationist daddy told him was his birthright when they put a mirror up to his nose and put a stake through his plastic heart and not before then. Reality a not a place well known to Mr. Gore.
In Gore's case, it has nothing to do with electability. It is all about ego. Gore still thinks he won in 2000. He's angry about it. Angry to the point of obsession. He talks about it every chance he gets. It has gone beyond logic. He won't stop until he has corrected the wrong done to him.
Gore, like Clinton, has been focused on becomming president his entire life. His father groomed him to be president. He heard it from his family and friends his entire life: "Someday you're going to be president." Gore has never had any other goal or ambitions in life.
