"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

That is so sad. My son-in-law is also a firefighter and I pray for his safety. The loss that these families have suffered is more than I can possibly comprehend. It is such a terrible thing when young men and women suffer the ultimate sacrifice in their efforts to provide for our safety and security. Good bless them all...and their families.

Thanks for the ping, Tonk.
I'm always saddened to read about our "First Responders" being killed in the line of duty.
If I may make a suggestion, take the time to stop by your local fire station and express your gratitude to those who face these dangers every shift. Firefighters, like our military and police, rarely hear the words, Thank You.

Prayers for those who died in the line of duty, and prayers for those they have left behind.

When I am called to duty, God Wherever Flames may rage,
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever Be its age,
Help me embrace a little child Before it is too late,
Or save an older person from The horror of that fate,
Enable me to be alert and Hear the weakest shout,
And quickly and efficiently To put the fire out,
I want to fill my calling and To give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor And protect their property,
And if according to your will I have to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting hands,
My children and my wife.
