Well, there it is. An interesting, and bizarre, weekend to say the least.
Several questions still remain, and as I said, the investigation is continuing to try to find the answers.
How did the suspect get from Seattle where the email originated, to NH where he was picked up this morning?
Where is the car?
If the suspect drove from CA where the murder occurred to NH, then someone ELSE sent the email from Seattle. Else the times don't work out. If someone ELSE sent the email while the suspect was on the road, who was he/she?
If the suspect drove from CA to Seattle and sent the email himself from the CyberCafe on Friday, how did he get to NH to be picked up today?
Why did the dirtbag send ME the email?
Feel free to post your own questions.

[Updated 10:05 a.m. Nov. 26] CONCORD, N.H. A 23-year-old man opposed to "police-state tactics" was captured in a hotel Tuesday as people in California flocked to a memorial service for a police officer he apparently admitted killing.
Andrew Hampton McCrae, 23, of Olympia, Wash., surrendered without incident at about 10 a.m. EST after a standoff at the Holiday Inn, police said.
Investigators will have to prove the man they arrested is the same Andrew McCrae who admitting on the Web to killing the officer, but police indicated they believe he is. A fugitive warrant from California named McCrae, and Concord Police Chief Jerry Madden referred reporters to the Web site when asked who he was.
The FBI tipped police at 2:19 a.m. that McCrae was staying in a fourth-floor room at the hotel.
A police tactical team arrived at the hotel, a block from the Statehouse, at 6 a.m. and the fourth floor of the hotel was evacuated, police said. FBI negotiators talked with McCrae by phone and tried to persuade him to surrender.
Red Bluff police officer David Mobilio, 31, was shot once in the head on Nov. 19 as he was refueling his cruiser. A man identifying himself as Andrew McCrae claimed responsibility in a posting Monday to a Web site for San Francisco news, www.sf.indymedia.org.
"Hello everyone, my name's Andy," he said in one of two letters. "I killed a police officer in Red Bluff, California, in a motion to bring attention to, and halt, the police-state tactics that have come to be used throughout our country."
The writer said the killing also was "an action against corporate irresponsibility," which he blamed for "all of the major problems in America and throughout the world today."
As many as 5,000 people were expected at Mobilio's memorial service Tuesday in Red Bluff, a city of 13,500. He was the first Red Bluff officer ever killed in the line of duty.
In one of the Internet postings, McCrae claimed he is immune from prosecution because he incorporated himself. Corporate officers are shielded from personal liability for a corporation's debts.
McCrae said the name for his corporation, "Proud and Insolent Youth," was taken from Peter Pan, a famous children's story about a band of children vanquishing the evil pirate, Captain Hook.
"Peter Pan hates pirates and I hate pirates, and corporations are nothing but a bunch of pirates," McCrae wrote. "It's time to send them to a watery grave and rip them completely out of our lives."
"The very concept behind corporations is to protect their owners from taking responsibility for their actions," he said elsewhere. "This means that directors within corporations can dump waste chemicals in our drinking water, or keep our work environments in fatally dangerous conditions, without any personal liability."
He claimed corporations "murder" thousands of people each year.
The incorporation papers, filed in Concord on Nov. 7, list addresses in Loudon, N.H., and Olympia, Wash. The contact phone number listed for McCrae in Olympia did not answer Tuesday morning.

Wow! To describe this whole episode as bizzare is to dramatically understate it.
Thanks for doing the right thing.
Keep us posted. If this individual was a member of a group, and not just a left-wing nut, then we have more work to do.

May indicate an accomplice?

Good job Neil!
No wonder you slept late this morning. You probably haven't had much sleep after this was dumped in your lap.
I want to see what side of the political spectrum this killer really was coming from. It is hard to tell if he is a flaming liberal or a flaming 180 degree the opposite.
Every airport from Sac, Medford, Portland to SeaTac needs to have their parking lots checked out for this guy's car.
Besides my question of what side of the Political Spectrum is he from, the other important one is, "Was he doing this alone or with help?" If he had help, "Is he part of a group?"
Neil, you posted that this was a conspiracy and as a good cop you know what a conspiracy is. Do you think that he was involved with a group, or can you tell us at this time?
I have the feeling you will be having a lot questions from law enforcement people all over the country.

An observation: merely because the post was allegedly from a Seattle Cybercafe doesn't mean he was actually IN the Cybercafe.
Also, on a MUCH less serious note: what's this guy's FR screen name? He sounds like matsuidon after taking some "sensitivity training."

To answer your question: suspect probably used the " Old Comrades' Network " - a chain of "helpful" left wingers that crosses the country, and involves some well-to-do, well placed " activists " left over from the 60's and 70's.
The network was orinally set up by Soviet agents/sympathizers in the 30's, and continued - somewhat changed - right up to the present date.
If my guess is correct, it's the same one Muhammad and Malvo used during their killing spree, and is probably in use by Islamists as well.
Do the Feebies know about it ? Hell yes !

There was a bit of a resemblance, wasn't there? Gosh, and why isn't there a "Constitutionalist" around when we need one?

The guy allegedly posted the following on a web forum:
I, myself, am an Army veteran, not so well-decorated as the Gentlemen I mention. Nevertheless, I am a graduate of the U.S. Army Ranger School, Airborne School, and Jungle Operations Training School.
Anyone wanna bet on whether this guy is the real deal, or if he's got a case of "Stolen Valor?"

Note that he's close enough to that world to designate himself as a graduate of the Ranger and Airborne schools, rather than just calling himself an AirborneRangerSpecialForcesSealMarineCommando the way many outsider phonies do. That's certainly no guarantee that he's a graduate of those courses or served with such units, but it's an indicator that it is indeed a possibility.
And if he is a graduate of the three-week JOTC course, it's presumably since they changed the name to the more politically correct title from the old *Jungle Warfare Training Center* designation in 1970 and closed the JOTB in April 1999.
But it does offer certain questions as to the friends or contacts he might have made while attending JOTC in Panama, either at Ft. Sherman and the Pina Range Complex, or elsewhere in-country....

"We apologize to the family and friends of the Police Officer that we killed in Red Bluff, California." From indymedia above, and from the email sent to me.
To incorporate anywhere, you must have a board of directors, and officers (which can be one and the same). To the best of my knowledge, officers must consist of at minimum, a President/CEO, Secretary and Treasurer. According to the law in most states, a President/CEO can fill any other office concurrently, EXCEPT the position of Secretary. Thus you would require a minimum of 2 people to be legally incorporated.

Subject: Motives behind violent political action in Red Bluff, CA. From the email sent to me.
Unless the "Mitch Stevens" name is a nom de guerre (and ol' Andrew had no problem posting under his real name at indymedia) this would seem to indicate at LEAST 2 people are/were involved with the killing of Officer Mobilio.
Unless or until it is proven that ol' Andy acted alone, prudence dictates that we should presume more than 1 participant.
As I said in my initial post, the investigation is ongoing. There are MANY, MANY questions that must be answered before putting this investigation to rest.
