I think I saw some sweater sets in an Eddie Bauer catalogue last week...you might want to check them online :). LL Bean usually sells a lot of cotton clothing too. Love their service.

Good luck!!

Try LLBean. Their clothing is superior and their service is excellent! They will jump through hoops to make their customer happy. Phone operators are helpful and gracious. For example, I purchased all weather shoes last year. This year the style was different and not as attractive I thought. The operator went through their commuter inventory and found two pair of the old style from last year. Now that is service. They arrived in three days. I am in CA. Another example..I ordered a large amount of clothing for my clients, along with a fleece vest for myself. The order never arrived. I called LLBean, they immediately duplicated the order at no charge and sent it 2nd day air. FedEx screwed up the order. LLBean made everything good. Glad to know they also have conservative views.

Thanks for the heads up. Here is a copy of my email to them.

Dear Lands'End

I have been a customer of Lands' End for many years. However this evening while reading posts on FreeRepublic.com, it was brought to my attention that Rob Reiner is your secret Santa. I am offended that this socialist and his tax dollar charity is being promoted by your company. I will be checking back with your web site and hope to see this offensive socialist, anti President Bush, liberial will be removed as a representive of Lands' End very soon. If not you can rest assured I will be making no more purchases from Lands' End and will take my buying dollars to a competitor.

Sincerely,

From the other posts I have read this evening. Wow, FReepers are not to be trifled with.

Lands' End's reply and my response. Curious to know if they are sending out a "canned" response. It sure doesn't say much. Lands' End: <> My reply: <>

Oops, let's try that again:

Lands' End:
Thank you for your e-mail and sharing your concern with us regarding our choice of mystery Santa. Indeed, we had no political agenda and only were concerned about the children. Thank you again for writing.

My reply:
Thank you for writing.

I am perplexed by your note. Does this mean that due to your concern for the children, you did not investigate Mr. Reiner's organization and its agenda? If so, how can increasing the tax burden on your customers not be a political agenda? How can increasing the government's role in the upbringing of young children (through public preschool and subsidized daycare) not be a political agenda? As I wrote yesterday, every tax dollar that is removed from our household makes it increasingly difficult for either my husband or I to be home at all times, raising our own four children. (I could also add that every tax dollar removed from my bank account is a tax dollar that will not be spent at Lands' End!)

And if you did not investigate the organization, why not? Did your company take his "It's for the children" message at face value without looking into it further? That does not speak well for your company either. Surely you knew that Mr. Reiner has been extremely politically active in my state, California, and that this organization is tied to his (extremely liberal, high-tax) political activities and agenda? Does Lands' End typically solicit funds for organizations without a thorough investigation?

Or, when you say you were only concerned about the children, is that another way of saying that Lands' End completely supports the I Am Your Child organization and its socialist agenda of increasing taxes on hard-working families in order to fund daycare, preschool, and other intrusive government activities? I would really like to know the answer to that question.

I sincerely hope that you will take my concerns to the directors of your company.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Good reply. I haven't checked my email to see of I too got the canned response. I'm sure they get the idea by now that conservatives take their views very series. :)

How about Vermont Country Store? They sell cotton items and just might have something you can use.

I believe L.L. Bean owners are pro-life. Better quality clothing too!

Too bad that they (L.L. Bean) think that a 46 waist is "XXL." Sigh, back to Atkins and the tentmakers' for me... ;-)

Thank you for taking the time to write. I didn't want to know this about Lands' End - or their owner, Sears. Sigh. The left's rent-a-mob bullies regularly threaten whatever "evil corporation" is deemed the latest enemy #1...and it becomes front page news around the world thanks to their PR agents at AP, etc. It's cheaper to cave rather than stand up to the press, trial lawyers and judges. Based on their responses to Freeper letters, Lands' End clearly sides with Rob Reiner...and not with their non-socialist customers.

If we can't put the "world's #1 internet clothing retailer" on the front page of the world's newspapers for hiring a socialist to push family values at Christmastime in America...maybe Rush, Sean, Prowler, Drudge, etc., can.

Conservative Megalinks.

I did receive an e-mail from Lands' End in return which stated that they were sorry, blah blah, but that Reiner is involved with some Children Relief Fund, or something like that. I recently spent almost $200.00 through their catalog buying a blanket and sheet for our bed. The blanket is great, very light weight and very warm. We love it. But I'd do without a blanket before I'd buy from any place that has Reiner representing it.

I received two, countum, two responses from Lands' End. The usual drivel on it's for the good of the children. I guess they just don't get it.

Is this for men's clothing? You might try J.C.Penneys for their bigger men's sizes. I have clients (male) who have a 46 inch waist and Penneys has always had good quality pants. God, I hope Penneys is PC cause I spend big bucks there. Without Penneys I will be doomed. :)

Thanks, Red. I've found that many conservative pols and pundits are very receptive to this kind of info - especially when it involves both spending $$$ and something as offensive as an American company pushing anti-family, anti-American values using a Hollywood socialist disguised as a beloved "Saint".

The link at #73 has handy e-mail links to many conservative and Christian talk radio hosts with large audiences. It wouldn't hurt to have a media institution like Drudge, or Rush put this info out.

People feel betrayed when their favorite stores go anti-American....the ingratitude! I have a private list of anti-left news and entertainment sources...but haven't bothered to code them. Just send an e-mail to your favorite websites and talk show hosts. The word will spread.

Yes, for men's trousers and outdoor pants. Unfortunately, I'm significantly larger than 46. When looking through L.L. Bean's and Cabela's catalogs, they tend to top out their sizes right around 46-48-50.

This year, Land's End used Lyle Lovett as the Secret Santa. Definitely a step up from Comrade Reiner.
