Daschle has been assigned Secret Service protection ever since his office got an anthrax letter last year. If he was really receiving threats, does anyone think that maybe at least one of the perpetrators would have been arrested, tried and convicted by now? Does anyone think it wouldn't be made public? Daschle is a lying, self-serving POS suffering from mental collapse IMHO.

I have several friends/contacts in local/state/national Democratic positions (via family and professional connections). If you were a contributor/lurker/member at FR back in 1996 you might recall some of my 'behind the lines' posts from the 1996 convention. I know whereof I speak. People that I know within the party were in a panic as long ago as last June. There is major- sometimes vocal- opposition to Daschle. He is not loved.
There is muted opposition to McAuliffe, and the Clintons have a lock on the party.
Let's not get Black Helicopterish here...
