"...an anti-DFL voter backlash to the politically tinged public memorial held in his honor four days later." "Politically tinged"?
"Politically charged" is more like it.

. . . abolishing the Dep of Education, or repealing Roe v. Wade. Yeah, real extreme </ sarcasm>. Correcting a couple of recent departures from the Constitution (see the Tenth Amendment).

My only sadness comes with California and with Thune. *sigh* Add NJ to that list, and I agree.

Yeah, real extreme </ sarcasm>. Correcting a couple of recent departures from the Constitution (see the Tenth Amendment). Hey, I agree with these positions. The government should NOT be in education, and the abortion issue should be decided at the state level.
However, if only 20-30% percent of the population agree with these principles, they are, by definition, on the extremes. Of course, "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice." - Goldwater.

That's what you mean by "extremist positions"??!! Let me ask this then: 33% agreement with a position is "extreme" but 34% agreement is okay? Are you saying that only "indys" are not extremists?
