GOD help me, FOX AND FRIENDS is on ; I should be fast asleep. Anyway, they just said that " PEARL HARBOR DAY " ( Dec. 7th. ), probably won't be a good one for Landru. LOL

GOPers have way more money than the Dims. So don't worry on that account.:-)

OK, so what is the holdup on the "newsmedia" declaring this one?

(Preaching to the choir, I know. But heck, it's late/early...)

Yes, you're right. It just seems like gravy compared to my earlier dreadful expectations. We need these two, and LA, too.

Mary got less than 50%, at least 3-4 points less, I think. The other candidates were all Pubs. Put their votes together for one candidate, and you do the math.

does anyone have a feel for how Louisiana will play out?

Most likely a republican win, assuming the northern and central parishes turn out. If they leave it to New Orleans, the Rats will prevail.

Seems to me, if it's close, Bush can probably swing with a few personal appearances. It's not like he's going to be spread thin. So, I'm guessing LA will be another pickup.

TOTAL PERCENT PRECINCTS TOTAL
                                   VOTES OF VOTE REPORTING PRECINCTS

     U S SENATE
   (L) EVANS KURT 2971 1 814 844
   (D) JOHNSON TIM 160497 49 814 844
   (R) THUNE JOHN 162295 50 814 844

Even with the precincts out in Shannon they should be the less populated communities on the reservation and the vote totals should not amount to much even with 90% going to Johnson. Someone else mentioned a re-count. That will happen for certain, plus don't forget the on going state and federal investigation on numerous cases of voter registration fraud on the reservations by Dem activists, one of which as already been indicted. IMHO, if Thune ends with 1000 plus margin he will be in the Senate seat when the dust settles. But of course it is just my humble opinion.

Oh, Seattle is pathetic! I was really hoping we could knock somebody off although I was pretty sure it wouldn't be McDermott, unfortunately.

You should come over to the East Side of the state...much better over here.

Any word on Mannix in Oregon? It would be totally cool if Oregon elected a Republican governor!

I read a post earlier from a Libertarian that he would vote Republican until the only two major parties were Republican and Libertarian. I liked that post. I have Libertarian leanings myself, but can't reconcile to their immigration or defense positions.

How do the actual election results compare to various final polls?

Lately Zogby has been held as the "best" since they were closest in 2000. It seems most polls in recent days predicted no change in the Senate.

So overall, is it correct that polls were too optimistic for the dems? Maybe they will need to adjust for Republican secret sauce in the future, to be more accurate.

The gap between counted "regular" ballots and counted supplemental ballots continues to decrease.

Right now, the gap is 369,758.

This means that in addition to the 8-10% of ballots that need to be counted, election judges (they are very wonderful public servants) still need to hand-count 369,758 ballots in the Senate race.

Chafee ain't going anywhere. He will get perks, and no one bolts to go into the minority. Also, he has witnessed first hand what Jeffords has wrought for himself. You dance with those who brung you.
