No, they are taken from the HSLDA current cases of people whose rights have been violated by social workers and public schools. I know nothing about this woman particularly, perhaps she is wrong or perhaps she is right. It doesn't sound like she is getting decent representation. HSLDA would probably have advised her to submit to the procedure, but I also know they often tell people not to in order not to set precedent; i.e., the lady that told them she wasn't giving them permission to come into her house but that the gate was open. This kept her legal options open for the future without putting her in a position of being beaten up by the police.

Many cases I read the social workers back off immediately once HSLDA comes into the picture because they KNOW they are in the wrong. In many of the cases I read the family will hand the phone (with the HSLDA lawyer on the other end) out the door to talk to the social worker, because they do NOT have the right to come into your house and search simply because you homeschool. In many cases HSLDA is able to address the issue and the social worker ends up leaving.

Homeschooling families have to be ever vigilant, or they will be served up to the powers that be like skewered beef on a stick. I probably should mention that HSLDA is HomeSchool Legal Defense Association. Homeschoolers pay yearly dues and they fight for HS rights, laws, and represent you if the state gets overambitious.

that is a very noble thing to be a part of the Home School Legal Defense Authority. Home schoolers are heroes too. It is so sad to read the stories of what the various state governments are now starting to do to the homeschoolers.

There are so many homeschoolers who are completely unqualified to do the job, some of them not even so smart, some of them not even working hard at it as they should, and yet even these parents are frequently getting better results with the kids than the local public schools. That's the shocking thing everyone should be concerned about.

Instead, they gather around like jackals and nip at these homeschoolers' heels. If the homeschool parent/teacher is marginal in her abilities, then the state should really offer help, such as curriculum and classes and coaching to help her to do better. It is far less expensive for the state to nurture this woman's efforts along than it is to fight her, throw her in jail and then put the kids in public schools. The state saves a ton of money every time someone homeschools their kid. You'd think they'd encourage this, especially since the evidence is that homeschool kids do better than public school kids.

Rather than nipping at this woman's heels the mob should be truly afraid of the jack-booted thugs in state government whose agenda is such that they see her as a threat and will attack her so.

Interesting reads. We have a problem in our county with an overzealous DSS tearing families apart. The local media is on this agency and a lot of dirty laundry is being exposed.

The media often picks up on the 'nutcases' while ignoring or never hearing about the folks who work with the authorities. I gotta tell you that the stories coming out in my county are frightening.

The nutcase stories are the ones the leftists drag out and prop up as examples of what they are dealing with.
