Well, Davis has hit Simon every possible front and now realizes he needs to beef up his own image...how did things go with Guiliani's recent trek out there to stump with Bill Simon?
To: eureka!
"Thanks for the link to Rough & Tumble. Great site for the news on the race."Note the abscense of ANY links to the Sacramento BEE-ESS. I have tried to raise the CA Crapitol's media monopoly web-site all morning and it won't come up!!!
see for yourself And here they provide ISP services as well. Wunder if all that's down, too.

I've been hammering on the incompetence, since it's the most important issue for me. And the interesting thing is that I get complete agreement on the part of my friend.
He says we should have nominated Riordan, who would have won the election. And he has a point; Riordan is a RINO, but he's no dummy and would at least have done a better job than Davis. At the same time, Riordan also did his best to anger us, so I find it difficult to blame us for not being frightfully enthused about his candidacy. And, in a low turnout election like this one, who is to say he would have won? The base wouldn't come out for him, just as the Democratic base isn't turning out for Davis. In a race where nobody cares but us and the Union goons, who wins?
I prefer Simon because I've learned to like the guy. Somehow he connects with me on a personal level. I think of him as a creative problem solver, which is exactly what the state needs.
I think Riordan would not be nearly as good a leader during bad times; he's more of a conciliatory force who doesn't want to rock the boat. California needs a genuinely disruptive leader right now, and that's not Riordan.
By the way, does anyone else wince when they hear Davis describing himself as a "practical problem solver"? I'd give him an A+ if I was grading him on sweeping problems under the rug until they blow up the house, but solver? Please.

Seems like the Sac Bee site is up. Hate to give the Clymers the hit but we do need to know what the enemies are saying...

If your friend keeps talking about Riordan, tell him Riordan ain't running. Or tell him to write in Riordan's name, if it makes him feel better. But by supporting corruption and incompetence (voting Davis) your friend will indeed have a hand in the problem. By voting for Simon your friend might have a hand in the solution.

Personally, I used to laugh at that...until I found something even funnier: "Experience we trust. Values we share."

I just saw the latest "positive" Gray Davis TV commercial on KDOC Channel 56. (Anaheim)
What a STIFF! He tried a half-assed smile at the end, but his performance was utterly flat.
I sure wish the Simon "Do you know me?" ad would play immediately after this one. The contrast is stunning.
To: Coop
If Davis is backing off of his attack ads, there is only one reason.
Those ads are having a negative effect.
He is now in the N. State running the ads about him being the abortion queen of Kali and how evil Simon wants to stop abortions.
To: NormsRevenge
I can't think of one positive thing about "Gay" Davis.
To: NormsRevenge
This doesn't wash. If the negative ad's increased his lead why stop now ?
To: NormsRevenge
Bill Simon's on the Roger Hedgecock show now, 600-AM in So Cal about the George Will column. (probably until 4PM) 1-800-600-kogo. Probably taking questions about education, especially in San Diego.
Mr. Simon said Davis' tactic is (paraphrasing) "like carpet bombing the country, and then saying, 'let's talk about peace.'" Of course the real reason is that Davis' numbers drop when he runs negative ads about Simon, so davis had to change his ads. They mentioned the "Had enough? Fire Davis!" ads at the intersection of 5, 10, 110 freeways.
