The photos are wonderful. President Bush was very somber as he thanked the House for their part in authorizing whatever it takes to protect us. The responsibility is awesome.

I remember that origin of 'strategery' and then the Bush team went right ahead and used it. He did invent 'misunderestimate'. He was speaking to the press about a dinner he was to address that evening (perhaps something like a press club dinner) and he told them they should not 'misunderestimate him...' Then he caught himself, paused, and said, "Just checking to see if you're paying attention."

especially since all of their pundits predicted that his numbers would be in the low 50s by this time!!!!

Ah, yes! I remember it well!

Back to pre-9/11 poll numbers, they said....... What they didn't count on was that once the American people saw who this man was, understood his honesty, integrity and basic goodness, that they wouldn't be swayed by the lies and attacks that the left would use to try to derail him.

Well, what do you know?? I guess character does matter!

Do you think in August when Snocroft (sp?) and Baker coming out with their opeds was just a ruse to get the NYT and the democrats to believe that the repubs were against GWB? It seems when I began hearing most about it was when those opeds came out. I am convinced there was a whole of strategery going on by Bush.

I have just heard on O'Reilly that liberal Ellen Ratner upset that Ms. America is advocating abstinence. She said that she should advocate responsibilty. Go figure that midget's mind.

By the way, Republicans are doing great in Texas !!!

Appreciate your confidence but let's not be complacent about this. Had heard this rumor more than once and then again today at my Republican Business Womens meeting today. Seems as if Tony Sanchez has rented as many vans as he can in the whole state of Texas for the "get out and vote" effort. These vans will go to the poor neighborhoods and nursing homes and bus all that will vote, to the polls.

Some of the Republican judges up for reelection were at a party the night before, for exposure sake and not knowing, guess who the featured speaker was? Ron Kirks wife, who is running for Phil Gramms seat against John Cornyn. She was eloquent and to the point, THEY HAVE EVERY INTENTION OF WINNING. Winning Texas would be a notch in their belt because that would be a big embarrassment to our President.

Although Bush/Cheney were highly criticized for being businessmen and in the oil business, the rats are now elated that Tony Sanchez is both, and has the money to pour all over this state. This is a critical election and I urge all freepers in Texas to volunteer at the nearest phone bank, block walk, put signs out or volunteer election day to drive people to the polls. This is something the rats have ALWAYS done and the republicans have really never thought this was needed.

Also the republicans have always pushed and been successful at getting their electorate to vote early. Here in Texas that starts like next week or so and although at one time you had to have a reason why you were voting early you no longer do, so we go vote. The rats have picked up on this and are pushing early voting and once again willing to bus people to the early voting sites.

There is sooo much I learned today and I am energized. I signed up (since I have a deadly SUV that seats 8) to drive people to the polls and or poll watcher, wherever I am needed.

WE CAN NOT SIT AROUND AND WATCH THEM TAKE OVER OUR STATE. WE MUST VOLUNTEER ANY WAY WE CAN BECAUSE OUR MAN IS PRESIDENT AND THIS IS ANOTHER WAY OF SUPPORTING HIM.

I had to spend several hours at medical records finishing up my charts. CNN was on and I was forced to listen to the forehead and Tucker. Paul Begala is horrid and kept talking about Harken and the Iraq connection. What an idiot!!!

Did you listen to congressman Paul Stark and he said that George Sr. got GW out of the service for Vietnam and said other personal things which I can't remember. The president of the house had to remind everyone that personal attacks were not accepted.

I was sitting on the floor, pounding my fists as she spoke, ollie!

These people are insane! They are so......shall I say.....EVIL???......that they believe that people who promote goodness should be silenced!

HOW in the world can a sane person, or one with a shred of decency, be against telling children to refrain from having sex??!! AARRRGGHHHHH!!!!!!

Yup. There were two possible ways that W. could have gone about cleaning up the mess left by "that man" who previously occupied the White House.

He could have sought vengence, punishment and criminal prosecutions, which would have made those of us who were paying attention very happy.

Or he could have chosen to become a shining example of honesty, integrity and patriotism, so that those who weren't paying much attention might realize the difference.

He chose the second. It just might be working. I keep hearing folks come on the talk shows who were life long Democrats, and who are now noticing that Bush is a really good man, worthy of their respect. They are also noticing some of the a**holes in Washington by way of contrast.

I like W's choice. You can clean up a mess once, and it will soon be made a mess again. Or you can teach the citizens to recognize and look for honesty, integrity and patriotism, and for the rest of their lives you have a more informed voter.

I was doing some research this afternoon and discovered this wonderful website:
http://bushlibrary.tamu.edu/

Someone needs to visit this sight and transport some the great photos to this thread: simply select photos, then select GW Bush (there are also great photos of the rest of the family!)
