Heaven help us all -- if this is how the sheeple react to deaths which are few in number albeit tragic -- when terrorists strike again on US soil on a large scale.... A serious attack (bioweapon or u-235 gun) will result in military check points on all major roads and a suspension of that pesky Constitution once and for all.

If twisting up his words is his biggest mistake (after all, the shooter is a murderer) I say give Chief Moose a break.

Listen to the radio and then tell me if twisting up his words is his biggest mistake.
Chief LEOs are not expected to panic sheeple and scare kids when there has been a 5/1,500,000++++ chance of anyone being gunned down over the past four days....

Spokespersons from the ATF, the U.S, Attorney, and others are promising to work with the MC police to solve the case which, thanks to local and national mediawhores (one word), has thousands and thousands in a state of terror. No. A cold-blooded terrorist (foreign or domestic) has thousands in a state of terror. Random killings with no rhyme or reason are truly chilling; if anything, the media's not playing it up enough.
Your headline is stupid. There's no "law enforcement meltdown."
How would you handle things differently, genius.

You minimize this as if it were nothing. If a member of your family were laying in state tonight, you'd think it was a very big deal.

I think you are being far too harsh. Even LEO's are human beings and those in that area are probably terribly exhausted and frustrated. I don't think anything they could say could cause more fear and anxiety than the people of the area already feel.
What should he do, assure people they are safe, to go about their daily business without concern for their own safety or the safety of their children? Whoa, we'd have people really bitching up a storm and making comments like, "Go to the mall!" "Go buy a new car!"

Your ridiculous ramblings are just criticisms with not one word as how you would handle things differently.
You just like to bellyache.

I agree, Sink, we are not getting enough information out of the mediawhores, like race of those shot, etc. Heaven help US when the terrorists decide to start spraying malls with automatic weapons fire, the union blackmail on the left coast will pale in significance to the stumble in the economy.

I agree with you. Black, white or indifferent, with this kind of crime, a local Chief just doesn't have the resources. And I don't see the FBI or the ATF cracking this thing now! I don't agree with the way Chief Moose states his case, but I'd trust him with my life. He's one of the good guys!

Open season on swarthy-looking Middle Eastern types?????????
Yet??????

My answer to your question is a solid YES.
The more that law enforcement and mediawhores unwittingly and wittingly, respectively, turn this sad situation into a carnival, the more likely that the big, bad super-sniper will seek to prolong the endorphin rush he has been enjoying non-stop since last Thursday.
How powerful must he feel, causing widespread panic and terror as the result of firing a few rounds at unsuspecting, defenseless, and innocent people.
The blood of his future victims will not be on his hands alone....

I must admit that I did find Chief Moose's statement, "This time it's personal", to be ill-chosen. (After 5 people had already died he shouldn't be reaching to quote Die Hard or Lethal Weapon movies in order to express his further outrage when a child was shot.)

Just remember, the Zodiac killer was never apprehended either. I say give the police chief some slack, he's doing all he possibly can with this evil monster roaming the streets. I hope they get a break in the case soon, the SOB that's doing this needs to be given the needle asap so he can rot in hell where he belongs.

Yep. Could happen. Could also have a homicide bomber visit a busy McDonald's restaurant at the middle of the lunch rush.
Israelis have been dealing with things like this for a while.

I don't think this is as much a lack of police ability to solve a crime as it is a lack of useable leads to arrest the suspect(s). A nutcase who goes around shooting innocent people is as baffling to the police as it is anyone else. What is going to solve this is something like a good lead, or plain dumb luck - as in a cop or helicopter will be in the right area at the right time. I don't blame the cops here. I pray they get the killer soon.

Did you even hear the broadcast or are you basing your usual pontifications on something you know nothing about? I live here and have close friends who are working this case. It's my local news and I'm sick of it.
For another clue as to how I'd handle things, see must post #15, windbag....
