I thought the Simon/Davis Debate was going to be on the Radio... sponsored by the John and Ken Show

To listen...KFI Radio 640 AM on the dial.

KFI website http://www.kfi640.com/

Definitely not prime time. I suppose Simon's team agreed to it because they thought it was better than no debate at all. But it's not a whole lot better.

With his weak ad campaign, Simon hasn't shown his face to many Californians. He's an attractive guy, but people need to see him. Otherwise Davis and the media will define him for them.

I have heard John and Ken of KFI Radio give the Simon Campaign many suggestions for TV ads etc. But Simon's campaign doesn't take any of them! I heard that Simon's advertisements to counter Gray Davis' negative attacks were "I'm not perfect"

What is this about? I HOPE Simon wins...but either his campaign managers are working for Davis...or Simon is there to make Davis win!

Let's shock the California-Power-Elite and GIVE Siimon the BIGGEST Victory we've ever seen!

Just like in New Jersey...the Democrats have learned how to play elections and It's Time the Voters took the Power BACK!

Hmmm...Simon is behind in the polls. So maybe he should pull out now and relief pitcher/candidate replace him on the ballot. It's not legal but, hey, it's been APPROVED by the NJ Supreme Court.

You being offended aside, can you cite or provide some sources regarding the following? (I'm honestly curious)

but FreeRepublic is NOT allowed to use the image of the President to raise money. Many organizations have gotten in trouble for doing this...

Uh, I appreciate the fundraiser, but FreeRepublic is NOT allowed to use the image of the President to raise money. Many organizations have gotten in trouble for doing this, and I am highly offended by it. The President's image should never be used for commercial purposes!

The President's image is public and since this board is non profit that masks it non-commercial.

Anyway, there seems to be some debate on this, so I figured sine it IS your site, you may want to make the call :0)

The debate is Monday, 10/7/02, at noon, since Davis wanted to guarantee low viewership; his evenings are all booked with fundraisers anyway. Maybe NBC confused the dates? Monday is also the last day to register for this election, so any unregistered adult citizen who watches the debate has little chance be motivated to register the same afternoon.

Does anyone know which radio stations will broadcast the debate, live or delayed? What is KQED-FM's "California Report" or what stations subscribe to it?

RonDog posted a list of TV stations planning to televise the debate live (near the bottom of post #19):
KTLA (Los Angeles), KTVU (San Francisco), KSWB (San Diego), KTXL (Sacramento)

The debate will be Monday...I really think it should be televised..cause Davis looks like some goose-stepper left over from Germany in the 1940's...

But no...it's on radio. I'm sure all the soundbites will be pre-memorized. Just like Hillary does it.

Listen for Davis to start all sentences with "You know,..."

Thank you for the correction. You are right. Sorry for spreading wrong info. I had always thought the deadline to register was 30 days (wasn't it 30 days before?), but actually it is only 15 days, according to the Elections and Voter Information page of the Secretary of State's web page.

The deadline to register in CA is October 21, 2002, for this election.
