What kind of a populist are you if the people aren't with you?
What kind of an intellectual are you if you aren't smarter than Bush?

These lines made me laugh so hard I had to repeat them.
Rhetorical questions, of course.

If they are so often trounced by an out-of-touch moron, then what does it say about them?

From my observations, one of the self-destructive tendancies of self-described intellectual sophisticates is that they cannot believe that the vast majority of problems facing folks in the world can be dealt with by anyone with a bit of common sense. Believeing in their own superiority they struggle to deride the obvious and create their own supersophisticated fiction - so sophisticated that no one else could have thought it up. Then they cannot figure out why the world blows up in their face and the "plodding dolt" who just applies a bit of common sense wins out. I have seen very bright but otherwise clueless technology managers often very conservative in political bent commit exactly the same sins of hubris.

A great article, it spells out a lot of things most of us felt, but could not quite put a finger on.

One important thing the article did not mention was that election fraud has become a vital part of democRAT strategy. Do it in secret if you can, but do it openly if you must. Floriduh in 2000, and New Jersey in 2002 are being played out in public (with obvious behind-the-scenes scams) because the stakes are so high for the RATS.

I used to be disappointed that Bush never pursued legal actions againt the RATS for violation of federal election laws. But then I realized he feared, and rightly so, a civil war if any RAT, especially the klintons, was indicted. So the best he can do is make sure that light is always shined on these dirty deals, so people can at least observe these cockroaches in their natural habitat.

Wonderful read. I'm sure that President Bush would want to credit the Lord for guiding him as he starts each day on his knees, and in the Word.

I thank Him daily for this wonderful President.

Great find, Pokey. Thanks for the ping. I've emailed it to some non-Freepers who will enjoy it as much as I did.

Even at his worst, people believe Bush when he speaks (everybody but the FDR/Abbie Hoffman wing of the Democratic Party). He has a simple, folksy presentation style that garners trust readily. Not so with Clinton. We got so used to parsing through Clinton's every word for escape hatches that Bush is a welcome change. I believe it's this simple style that disarms the average person and infuriates the ivory liberal tower elites. They simply can't understand why their agenda isn't ringing with the average person. Which is tantamount to saying that they don't understand America at all. Americans have always valued their own national security above all else. And this time, Bush isn't chasing invisible Communists in everybody's bedrooms. The threats that he's describing were made indelibly real on September 11 and the ongoing arrests serve to reiterate his message. You can't build prosperity when your national security is threatened. The American people understand this concept intuitively. That is why Bush is winning. In times of war, you don't turn to Democrats unless you want to fill body bags a la' LBJ.

I think there is a lesson here for conservatives as well. We should all remember that the relentless attacks on Clinton did not produce the desired effects either.

Americans do not want another Watergate they do not want to face the shame of looking at their President humbled. Both parties should learn to handle the president with more tact.

Hatred of Bush is becoming a weapon that helps him by dividing his political enemies.

A keeper indeed.

Love this column! I have a Democrat friend who voted for Gore, and she told me she really "likes Bush!"

My aunt told me her Presbyterian minister who is, of course, another liberal Democrat, said "Bush wasn't his choice, but he's glad Bush is the President!"

I get my news at FreeRepublic.

So I'm surprised to discover there are people who apparently don't like President Bush.

Astounding! They must feel really bad, these days.

The current crop of democrats are the dumbest in history.

It's ironic how they ran a very stupid hick like gore and they thought he was smart. But they go around telling everyone Bush is dumb.

bump for Sunday morning reading

What kind of a populist are you if the people aren't with you? What kind of an intellectual are you if you aren't smarter than Bush? How can people so smart, and whose views are so popular, be beaten so often by someone so clueless? The idea that George Bush is a gifted politician whose views are quite mainstream would make their world crumble. On the other hand, if they are so often trounced by an out-of-touch moron, then what does it say about them?

priceless!
