Every little bit helps - and if it can keep our soldiers safe as well as staying out of MOPPIV, this is an excellent invention.

Air is a chemical agent. Goldfinger killed a girl this way.
But if it somehow helps...

Well.....if in an emergency, and you don't have teflon, use olive oil. It covers the skin pours and will help hold off bacterial infections.
Castor oil, also know as Palma Christi (palm of Christ), will actually suck out bacterial infection from the skin. Apply it over the wound (even blood poisoning -red lines forming from the wound) and cover with a piece of Castor oil saturated wool or warm fabric. Apply heat like a heat pad, or a heated bag with a handful of corn (it holds heat). Keep it there overnight. The infection will be sucked right out!
Teflon cream, though, I'm sure is pretty good stuff.
I keep a few bottles of Caster oil on hand just in case. It's good medicine for cuts.
Even the Bible says if someone is ill, annoint them with oil. The Castor bean grew all over the place during Biblical times. It was one of their sources of oil for the poor to use in their lamps.
(Just thought I'd mention it.)

Just watch out that the Dems don't start smearing it on their political candidates. Talk about teflon men. . . .

Goldfinger killed a girl this way. My first thought as well. Hope they tested this stuff real good.

They should test it in Gitmo.

Re: Castor Oil.
Wow, hadn't heard of this before. How'd you find this out? Got to include castor oil in my field kit now (after testing it some anyway)

Clinton: The Stealth President. His accomplishments, leadership skills, accountability, reliability, honesty, and integrity were all impossible to see with ANY RADAR. No wonder he's the king of the Rats. I'd love to have that fat POS in the CS chamber for some exercises. About the second breath of that and he'd be squealing like, well, Chelsea.

The best thing available now to protect against poison ivy or oak is an OTC product called IvyBlock. Putting it on prior to exposure and washing exposed areas within a few hours of exposure reduces reactions about 2/3 on the average. It beat everything else available in a study several years ago. I've not heard of anything newer and better and as a Dermatologist I'd expect to hear of such. However, I don't recall reading about this teflon cream. I hope it works. We could really use an effective barrier cream against chemical irritants. What is available now doesn't work very well IMHO.

How the hell do you wash it off......lol

Thanks for the tip on castor oil. Skin protection is a deficient item in my otherwise well-endowed emergency kit (having most of an army medic kit minus the morphine -- darn!).
On the subject of olive oil, I am becoming convinced of the benefits of olive leaf extract (oleuropein). Taken for chronic infections, especially ones that don't respond well to antibiotics, it often results in a short-term "flare up" of the condition followed by considerable improvement in the following weeks. I experienced this first hand. Even Wal-Mart carries it in the herb section. And no, it isn't imported from China.

thanks so much about the history behind castor oil and its uses!

Wow - another use for Castor Oil (and thanks for the "Palm of Christ" - I didn't know that!)
Beats drinking it - mom used to say "keeps ya regular" every morning - I thought she took it out of the motor oil container when dad wasn't looking. lol (with an OJ chaser)
