I don't care where my food comes from -- and neither should you.

I was thinking of the first time the food is eaten and "cycled" through. Of course, I wish many 'Rats would "Eat recycled food and die." Or, that most 'Rats are "full of bull recycled food."

Although it may read like a critique of protestantism,it is not. Rather it is a critique of the cheerful belief--evinced by AnalogReigns, for example--that the protestant ethic can still ride the tiger of capitalism.

(It would be a bit ungrateful of me to excoriate protestantism since my ancestors were grateful to come to this country--founded by the best of the protestant vision. )

To a certain extent all American are "protestant". And so, as we watch the sovreignity of our Nation sinking slowly, slowly into the sunset--cheered most loudly by global capitalists--we should pause to ask ourselves: What happened?

Capitalism clearly devours its hosts--even as the hosts naively believe they are feeding and growing stronger on capital. And our ruling Elites are no longer "WASPS" but rather "WASCS", white anglo saxon capitalists--and capitalist crusaders, at that! Does anyone seriously believe our elites are animated by a christian vision---in spite of their habit of appearing at at the Church door at Easter with a bible in hand just before they rush off to an assignation with their intern du jour---in spite of Osama's silly belief that the "christians" are out to get the moslems. (Would that it were so!!)

Do you notice who the guys and gals who go from city to city protesting the iniquities of the current world system are yelling at? Not the "governments" of the world. No, they are dimly aware that REAL pwoer lies elsewhere. Do you think it bothers the Heads of the IMF to be followed about by these mobs from city to city? Of course not! It is reaffirming in eveybody's mind who is REALLY running the show. In a few months the IMF will graciously allow these protestors to "make recommendations". In a few years the IMF will adopt some of the "very fine ideas that these young people have presented".

In other words, the so-called protestors will be absorbed, the system will be reaffirmed. And the winners will continue to write history. The Evil Past-including yesterday-- will continue to be the worst thing that ever happened, growing worse every day, even as we cower in our houses, flipping through our dog-eared books trying to keep the glorious present from oozing under the door....

"...I'm now in serious danger of wading into waters out of my depths,...

That's me all over! "Not waving, but drowning...."
