KPAM reports that the letter with the powder was a threat specifically to Governor Kitzhaber.

Maybe he sent it to himself because he wanted sympathy.

Especially after he admitted he is trying to raise income taxes, property taxes, cigarette taxes... and start a new sales tax in Oregon.

KGW now has a story up that says that inital tests indicate it was not anthrax.The FBI is continuing to treat it as a crime scene,a threatening note was with the package.Too close for comfort,that's for sure.

Yes, I am an Oregonian. I DO, however, hold many Republicans in the legislature responsible after they passed a budget that had a 17% increase. With friends like this......LOL. Not funny....but what else can you do but laugh. I am MOST disappointed with the ORE GOP party.

Oregon, or portland more accurately, had just determined to continue coopeation with the FBI War on Terror, last week. Portland controls the state.

Perhaps a warning to the wavering, "soft on terror" democrats here... "to toe the line" of coddling terrorists and minimal cooperation with homeland defense...

Kitzhaber is hardly a "warrior on terrorists".
More like a "war on capitalism" supporter.

We shall see how it plays... on the other hand, the false negatives on anthrax, went on for days at the first outbreak of the Anthrax scare last year... this story might play on for a day or two...

If they start passing out the CIPRO, I guess we will know they are lying to us.

Well I guess there's more than one way to end a special session. You're right this story could go on for awhile.But at this point,media reports are ponting to a hoax. There were several hoax incidents in Oregon after 911. One was at the U of O,there was also the one at DemoWeenie Wyden's office in DC. I'm sure there will be flurry of media reports about this incident tonight.

Now they are reporting the state capitol will be closed tomorrow and that the letter in the white powder, warned of small pox... was addressed to Governor Kitzhaber.

Strange,I seem to remember hearing a report on the news last week about efforts to deal Smallpox attacks being ramped up. I'm wondering what methods of dispersal the goverment experts have been nervous about.Hopefully this is not got unleashed today.

It would only take one confirmed case of smallpox to cause total chaos in the US right now.People would isolate themselves and refuse to go to work.That is one scary scenario.
