I can picture Jesus smiling down on his Fathers creation, grinning widely at the sight of young able bodied men paying the lowest and saddest of us all to pummel each other into a pulp. And you watching, laughing and telling your friends. Did you see the scene where one of these men snuck up on a homeless man, sleeping on the street, harming no one, jumping him as the stunned man tried to figure out what was happening - trying to fight back? It was SO FUNNY. He was talking like the Crocodile Hunter as he wrestled the flailing man into submission. He then wrote a number on the man's face with a thick black marker so he could be identified and studied....leaving the broken, battered man on the sidewalk gasping for breath and even more humiliated than he was already.

Don't get me wrong, most of the people here, as I'm sure you know, are intelligent, compassionate conservatives. And, of course, some are not. I live in a quasi-ghetto. And, unlike people like our friend BlessingInDisguise, I actually take the time to get to know the street people. Most of them are Vietnam vets, most of them have severe disabilities, and ALL of them are demoralized, dejected, sad and virtually alone. They deserve our pity, not our ridicule.

Not to be sanctimonious, I'm as low as the next person. But to find humor in the abject suffering of another HUMAN is plain sick. Laugh it up and flame away, folks.

You do know that most so-called "homeless" are there by choice, don't you?

1. I'd be interested to see the data on this statement of fact. Will you share a link?

2. Many who are mentally incompetent, due to extreme trauma, mental disease or drug abuse - which I know from first hand experience to be in the minority - might very well "choose" to live on the streets. Does this somehow make them fair game for exploitation, manipulation and outright attack (as is the case in some circumstances by the producers of this video) for our entertainment?

3. Because the addled and simple minded are exploited every day we must simply lable it acceptable? We must have no modicum of feeling for these people?

I take great bemusement hearing people say "They CHOOOOSE to be "homeless" so I have no pity for them.

MOST of them, in my vast experience with them, can't choose their favorite color, let alone how to get by from day to day. Go talk to a hundred of them, instead of treating them like lepers, and tell me what you think of how they CHOOOOSE to be in the gutter.
