I don't know how I missed knowing Jesse Jackson was coming to town, but I'm glad some MSU students "freeped" him.
The web site does not show a photo used in the print publication. Here are what some of the protestors' signs said:
"We Support the Military"
"Jesse Jackson Protest Squad"
"Go Home Jesse"
And my favorite:
"The Shakedown Stops Here"

"Communication senior Justin Komori said he couldnt pass up the chance to see a renowned orator like Jackson. I wanted to be able to sit my grandkids on my lap one day and say I went to a rally for world peace with Jesse Jackson, he said. "Had I the money and time, I'd send this clown a copy of "Shakedown"...

Look what we missed!

But Jacksons personality is what makes him an outstanding speaker, Trustee Joel Ferguson said in his introduction. Ferguson and Jackson met at the 1972 Democratic National Convention. Ferguson, a Lansing developer, ran Jacksons 1984 and 1988 presidential campaigns in Michigan.
"Im sure I can arrange a nice little honorarium from the student fund."

From the WashTimes:
"EAST LANSING, Mich. The Rev. Jesse Jackson yesterday told about 600 Michigan State University students that America's democracy was 37 years old, not 200-plus, and that "democracy as we know it did not begin in Philadelphia, where a bunch of white men wrote the laws."
~snip~
"The event here was poorly attended after student organizers predicted a crowd of 6,000. The group provided 2,000 free tickets to students and booked the arena area of the center, which has a capacity of 15,000."
Jesse Jackson shows once again just how anti-American he really is. JJ is part of the blame America first crowd. With his track record, JJ has no right preaching to others. What a first class twit!

I wanted to be able to sit my grandkids on my lap one day and say I went to a rally for world peace with Jesse Jackson, And you probably will, because brave men and women will do what needs to be done so the cowards can look forward to tommorows. Brought to them by the blood of the soldiers they will spend their lives looking down on.

Wow! Thanks for providing "the rest of the story."

I wanted to be able to sit my grandkids on my lap one day and say I went to a rally for world peace with Jesse Jackson, he said. Better do that before the kiddies are old enough to say "Grandaddy's a real dork, isn't he?"

Peace! True peace and quiet, Jessee!
To: The Energizer
"Give peace a chance?" That's novel. Leave it to Jesse to come up with something catchy. Whirled peas. Imagine if you can.

I missed that! Forgot all about it and I planned on going there.
I'm sure Craig made up for it. I wonder if he brought his bullhorn with him...

ROFL. I'll never think of the Tom Petty song "Breakdown" in the same way again.

I wonder how much money was allotted by the student assembly, or other parties, in order to bring Jackson to the school. Anyone know?
