Looks like major damage control to me.

And if you want to better understand the minds at work here, rent a copy of "Lawrence of Arabia." Certainly NOT the definitive work on the Middle East, but revealing nonetheless. In one scene near the end of the film, another character suggests that Lawrence is a good liar. The king (played by the late, great Sir Alec Guiness) overhears him and comments, "He should be. He's nearly an Arab."

LYING IS A WAY OF LIFE THERE -- ESPECIALLY TO THE INFIDEL (that's US folks, that's US).

Those "caged monkeys" in Cuba ought to be brought to Times Square and, at the rate of one a day, HANGED from light poles with the hangings televised to the Middle East.

Now THAT would be a GOOD START.

Forgot to mention that that same tribute both moved me to tears and PISSED ME OFF in much the same way it did you.

Can't tell you why it took a year for me to get aboard, but I'm ready for us to KICK SOME MAJOR MUSLIM ASS and let the chips fall where they may.

I think that GW has had words with quite a few leaders on an unique one to one basis.

With no diplomats on either side to make the issues muddy, GW prefers to go one on one with his counterparts. This is something the world hasn't seen for about 60 years.

I downloaded that tribute last year, and it moved me then. I told myself I would not play it again until the one year mark, just to make sure my anger had not lost its edge.

I do not wish to weep for 9/11. Now is the time to show the world the price of killing 3000 Americans on American soil, with American planes (and the two that had "American" on the side really pissed me off). In the words of a dear friend, after we spent the better part of an evening, a half-rack of brews, and a couple of Montecristo #1 (Habana), speaking philosophically on the subject...

"Level the f**king place!"

It was the only conclusion we could come to. No other solution would work. These people can not be "democratized" (whateve that is...). It is either them or us.

His solution was to glaze the Arabian Peninsula with nukes, to show that we can kill 30,000,000 of them without breaking a sweat. My solution was to draft all the kiddies of the soccer moms, and march them arm-in-arm northward on the Arabian Peninsula killing everything they see. Terror would be someone who is on their back, from some injury, looking up into the blue sky and see a 20yo US Marine towering over them. They feel the boot of the Marine on their chest, see the rifle pointed at their head, and then their world goes black. The terror would be all through the Arab world, as the green machine pushed its way through their holy land, killing everyone stupid enough to stand in the way.

This shows the world "yes, we are capable of this," gets our people involved on a personal level, commits us financially, and sends a message to the Arab world that was last sent around the Mediterranean 2300 years ago when the Roman Legions did the same thing in North Africa. Picture the screams of Carthage as the Legions burned their city, and went door-to-door, killing everyone with the sword.It was a few hundred years before anyone picked a fight with Rome (Rome picked a few on their own). Picture the screams of Jeddah, Medina, Mecca, and Riyad as triple-bursts of M-16 drone on through the night, punctuated by American bombers dropping death from above.

Now, that's terror.

It would showcase American power in combination with American rage. The remainder of the world would at first protest, and then would all be silenced at the unspeakable horror. The world would be re-caged to understand that America is a better friend than foe.

The Europeans would probably rethink their Muslim immigration policies, as they would not want to be the target of 280,000,000 pissed off Americans. The American Century would continue for another 100 years, at a cost of 30,000,000 worthless Arabs.
