Just spoke with Kathy's mom. She is on the steroid IV until at least Tuesday. The test results will not be back until Thursday as to whether this is MS or not. (We pray NOT!) she mentioned that last time the attack seemed more upon her bodily functions and organs. This time the attack seems to be more on the mental faculties. She felt that Kathy, being a very smart 7 yr old, and able to work math problems in her head (leading her class in intellect).....now, however, is far below that level. Her ability to concentrate is also being affected. It seems to be more of a mental attack this time. She also said that Jacob should be coming home this week from his treatments. I am anxious to hear what has happened along those lines, as well. I will keep you updated as they give me the info! Thanks, all!

I raised my four daughters in Corpus Christi. One still lives there with her husband and my two grandkids. Driscoll Children's Hospital is a true blessing to the area. I had the pleasure of being a facilitator for several years there in a Kids with Cancer support group.

I pray for your kids and know that God is always in loving control of everything. It's so hard when a child is suffering, but they are in good hands.

Prayers for Kathy and Jacob. May the good Lord hold them in His Hand and keep them strong and healthy.

The photo of Jacob is absolutely adorable. He's obviously a happy, bright little boy. Hope you can get one of Kathy up too.

My son was born at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, so I have a special place in my heart for kids from south TX, every one of them a great kid deserving of love and protection.

In 1994, stories of children born along the Rio Grande were published in the national news, children born with severe brain disorders or no brains at all. It was apparently some environmental problem. If I had a sick child in that area, I'd contact EPA office to see if they have information. Even mysterious menengitis-like symptoms could have environmental link.
