The Democratic Party today is composed of a motley and diverse amalgam of side-show freaks, intellectually stunted ravers, and cultural throwbacks.

C'mon, people, it's not hard.

I expect to learn about diverse ways of using 'diversity' and 'diverse' in normal speech.

Is the Democratic Party sufficiently diverse? Or is there room for more diversity in their ranks? And what would be the opposity of 'diverse'?

I'm sorry, I just remember that we were supposed to use 'diverse' and 'diversity' in a 'normal speech' context. Like in talking about the diversity of teeth your dentist would like to replace with diverse fake ones.

I met a white South African who had recently obtained US citizenship. I congratulated him, and mentioned that he was the first African-American I had ever met. It was a very diverse moment.

I know of diverse African-Americans. They came from diverse countries such as Egypt or Algeria. Some people call them Arab but I understand that Africa is made of a diversity of people. She is a gorgeous and diverse mosaic. That's why I call these Arabs who pump diverse grades of fuels into my car or explode into our diverse public spaces African-Americans.

You mean you live in such a diverse community that there are still people of diverse origins who pump gas?? I haven't seen such a thing in diverse years.

Alas, there's plenty of room for more diverse fuel grades and a diversity of options on the level of service. Apparently, the New Jersey law mandates that all gas stations provide Full Service only and that the service must be rendered by a diversity of Asian or African-Americans of Arab or Hindustani ethnicity.

Hey, it's not hard to use 'diverse' in day-to-day speech. The contributions above show how natural it sounds when normal people discuss their day-o-day diverse concerns and use the words 'diverse' or 'diversity' in a diversity of contexts.

Your post brings to mind one of my current pet peeves. And that is the use of the word "issue" instead of "problem" as in " This is Gateway support....how may I help you with your issue". It's as if your problems will disappear if you simply eliminate the word from your vocabulary. I believe it was started by customer service departments because "problem" is too negative. It has since been adopted by a diverse group of people including politicians, teachers and a large segment of the general public.

Issue is one of several diverse ways of calling a problem. I am aware of Help Desk people calling a prolem 'an opportunity'.

Boy! Did you hit the nail on the head with this very diverse "brain-wash-speak" and it needs to be documented.

I work with a very diverse group of 20-somethings and next to Jesus Christ and F**k, I will say that "diverse" is their favorite word and it usually means: good, very good, or a group having a quality to be desired. So a "diverse group" is not a mixed group but a group that has something good like they work together well or they like the some music.

So it has take me an old guy in his 50’s some time to catch on and I can’t bring myself to use the work that is a sign of one having been successfully brainwashed in a US college!

How about we start calling universities diversities? Since phony diversity is the only thing they seem to be interested in.

Words such as diversity, multiculturalism, tolerance, social justice, equality, etc, are leftist codewords. They are leftist euphemisms used to hide ugly and dishonorable concepts. The Women's Studies department of many universities are a breeding ground for these leftist codewords. A translator is needed for ordinary people to understand what leftist code words really mean to fellow leftists:

Multiculturalism = anti-Christianity, or a philosophy that respects equally all cultures as good, excepting orthodox Christian culture

Diversity = hiring and promotion based primarily on gender, ethniticity, race, and personal sexual gratification habits. aka Affirmative Action

Tolerance = official persecution of un-politically-correct speech. i.e. federal hate speech laws and college campus speech codes

Moderate: supports the democrat party's philosophical status quo

Conservative: national socialist, fascist, extremist

Progressive: Marxism proponent or fellow traveler

Green: a person that refuses to plant their own tree and sit in it, but prefers instead to sit in and use someone elses tree. aka progressive

Equality: a Marxist philosophy that promotes equal levels of wealth and leisure for all people that are not politically connected, primarily bourgeois and proletariat. Promotion and hiring based on unmeritable qualities, same methods as diversity. Equality is officially promoted using heavy progressive taxation, heavy federal government regulation through diversity and welfare law, and guaranteed by federal government sponsored litigation and police forces

Social Justice: A coercive, government-sponsored effort to achieve what leftists euphemisticly refer to as "equality".

"University or Diversity?" used to be the motto at one of my now changed Web sites.

Hmmm... I guess your life experience is a lot more diverse than mine. I absolutely NEVER EVER heard anyone use the word 'diverse' during normal conversations.
