There was also an SF short story published in F & SF or IASFM back in the late 1980s or early 1990s. In it, intraracial romance was banned : Everyone was required to marry a person of a different race. Melanin was declared a "human resource" which people of African descent could not be "allowed" to hoard by intermarrying. And so on. It was a satire , not a serious piece.

I love how these people say they are "color blind" and then all that cmoes out of their mouth is "black this" and "white that" and "opression this" and "guilt that". Meanwhile, I'm working with my black co-worker, and I don't care what color his skin is, I just know he does a good job and pulls his fair share, and only asks to be judged by the merits of his own actions.

And *I'M* supposed to be the Evil White Man?
