Sweden's links to radical Islam
Times Online ^ | Augustus 30 2002 | Roger Boyes

Posted on 08/30/2002 4:38:30 PM PDT by knighthawk

The man charged with attempting to hijack a Ryanair jet yesterday is Swedish born, but has Tunisian parents. Roger Boyes, charts the country's links to extreme Muslims.

The number of radical Muslims in Sweden has been growing rapidly because of the country's relatively liberal asylum laws, according to police reports.

Although few of al-Qaeda's European links lead to Scandinavia, Sweden is the home of one of the most virulent Islamic voices against Israel: the Moroccan-born Ahmed Rami.

Mr Rami received political asylum in Sweden in 1973 after claiming to have taken part in an unsuccessful military coup against King Hassan II of Morocco.

Since 1987, to the embarrassment of the Swedes, he has run Radio Islam and has become a firm fixture in the international far-right community.

He has taken part in conferences questioning the voracity of the Holocaust - including one "revisionist" forum organised by British historian David Irving - and maintains regular links with German and American neo-Nazis.

The Swedish authorities withdrew his radio licence for a year in 1990 after he was found guilty of broadcasting anti-Semitic and racist material.

A group of like-minded Muslim radicals has sprung up around Mr Rami but they are mainly long-term residents who have taken Swedish citizenship.

Police were unable today to say whether the suspected hijacker was part of Mr Rami's circle. Mr Rami tours Arab states on the lecture circuit; his main audience appears to be in Iran where he has delivered university talks on the Israel lobby and the Holocaust.

There are 250,000 Muslims living in Sweden - it ranks as the country's second largest organised religion after Protestantism - and many dissident groups operate on the fringes of religious communities.

Danish authorities have been concerned for some time about the Swedish Islamic community, Denmark has tightened its own immigration and asylum rules in order to filter Muslim refugees travelling between the two countries. Since most of the Muslims have Swedish citizenship however, there is little that can be done in terms of monitoring their movements.

At the time of the Crusades.....the CHRISTIANS in the Middle east were for the MOST PART Eastern Orthodox!!

There were millions of members of that Church in the Balkans, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Eastern Poland, Africa, Armenia, Georgia and other places.

You need to read a history of the Orthodox Church!!

"McVey"? Who the hell that?

And, if you're talking about "McVeigh", first, name ONE single church member, preacher, etc who condoned his actions.

All you heard from the Mohammedan community was verbal attacks on America and praise for the bombers post 9-11.

(Psst, "McVeigh" was an atheist also)

Psst - no he wasn't - (parsing)he was an agnostic -

and Psst - he asked for and received absolution from a Catholic (Part of the Christian population of the world)
just prior to his demise.

""For the spell-check Nazi's who somehow think a mistake diminshes the message or the poster:"

I too have been visited by these neo-spell-check-Nazi's - I have given them only my name rank and serial number -

In my forthcoming in-depth investigation on these fanatics I have noticed one thing in common -

Old ruler scars on their knuckles - I think a database of knuckle prints and detail searches at all airports, as well as registration of all of their optical prescriptions would be helpful when it comes time to round them up and send them off to teach spelling at some of the new camps we are building.

Beware - we are witching you - you cannot escarpe!!!

In the Netherlands we are at that stage. A lot of young muslims are very radical. Two even wanted to fight against the US in Afghanistan, but were unable to cross the border. So they decided to go to Kashmir and were shot by the Indian border partol for attacking them with knives.

Also a lot of young muslims populate the forums like al-Islaam.com, Magrheb.nl, Naffersite.nl (naffer=North African) and Maroc.nl, which are notorious for spreading radical stuff. The BVD (our security service) raided the Maroc.nl office and took their server to scan for extremists messages after the two young muslims were shot in Kashmir. On this forum there was an offer to buy AK-47 for jihad-usage and calls to join fighting-schools to be able to fight well.

A friend of mine who used to live in Amsterdam saw a lot of young (male) Moroccans dressed up in (white) islamic dress.

They are the ones who cause all the crime and rapings, not their fathers who are mostly honest people.

Interesting article about Sweden. It made me start thinking of the assassination of Olaf Palme in 1986 which has remained unsolved to this day, from what I've been turning up on this. Among those suspected of his murder was a group of Kurds living in Sweden (although there were others suspected, South Africans among them).

From one article I just read:

...One involves Abdullah Ocalan, the Kurdish rebel leader whom Swedish detectives hope to question in his Turkish prison cell. Ocalan denied giving orders to kill Palme after Sweden refused asylum to members of his PKK guerrilla group. He says a Kurdish splinter group may have been responsible.

"They are the ones who cause all the crime and rapings, not their fathers who are mostly honest people."

In the town I live in California the most prominent building is a Mosque built and supported mostly by Afghans that have been here since the early eighties and are true refugees from the Russian war. There are about 20,000 Afghans in a town of about 220,000.

We did have youth gangs but they have died because of lack of new recruits because new Afghans were not coming into the community. So it seems to me that if – this is a BIG, BIG IF – the immigrants stop coming then they will assimilate.

With a constant stream coming in and congregating then they will always find a group that are basically criminals and use their ethnic origin to justify their criminal behavior.

Replace that with "US links to radical Christianity" and you could talk about McVey. He was a Christian you know.

One could argue that point... however, the critical factors are
1) that those who murdered 3000 in the WTC did it following the tenets of Islam.
2) The perpetrators expected rewards in the afterlife.
3) Muslims around the world danced in the streets at the news of the death and destruction.

Even if McVeigh had literally said, "I do this in Christ's Holy name",
1) he still would not have been following basic Christian tenets.
2) He could not possibly have used the Bible to argue that the Almighty would reward him specifically for that act. Likewise,
3) his actions were condemned by Christians everywhere, as they wept and expressed shock and regret.

Your sophmoric attempt at moral equivalence won't fool anyone around here.
