The thought/action police are out again. This women will learn her lesson = three little kids crying all night from sunburn. She'll be paying for a few days for that one and hopefully will be more careful next time.

I was mostly thinking of the two year old, yes...I still think the whole damn thing is ridiculous. Babies younger than a year old would get sunburned inadvertently when I was growing up and you didn't hear the Nanny Contingency screaming that their mothers should have been thrown in jail for it. Jeez, I'm almost afraid to think that we could end up waking up one morning to read some unsuspecting mother somewhere got thrown in the calaboose because her kids were roller skating and careened around the corner at about 100 mph and plowed into a row of trash cans and scraped their widdle knees. (If that was a crime, the way I was roller skating when I was a kid they'd have hung my mother!)

I happen to believe that this "parent" needs a wake up call. If she's unable to care for the children put them up for adoption. By your standards I would have grown up a ward of the state and you would have also. I certainly got a sunburn or two.
You people are really too much. You think the government can do a better job just like they do with everything else they touch. Not!

Hey, this is nothing. My mother and father got life in prison because I once got a cavity.

I find this hard to believe. A felony charge because she didnt apply sunscreen? Looks like we will all be in chains in time. I hope Bush pulls back the JD before its too late.

Puritan zealots are not gone. They are repackaged as liberal zealots these days.Believe me when I tell the Puritans would be rolling over in their graves if they know how maligned they are today
Do a little research on the Puritans and you might be surprised how normal they were.

Larry, when you were a child, there were no sun blockers. There are today, but at the same time, how much government is too much? We never seem to ask this question anymore. We just go about our hard lives trying to put food on the dinner table, while dreaming about the next vacation.
In light of this case, should parents who over feed their children be prosecuted for a felony because it might harm them in the future?
This Nanny State mentality that even our administration is foisting upon us is very bad news if you want to remain free.

By the way, youll be in our prayers, and I know God does some wonderful things to heal and help us. Because he lives, I have faith that you will recover fully.

A sunburned child is so normal that nearly all of us would be found guilty! That's how we know this goes too far. The "abuse" net should never encompass routine ills.

All things considered, your parents got off easy. In today's climate they'd get the electric chair.

A felony charge because she didnt apply sunscreen? Looks like we will all be in chains in timeDid you hear the latest on this? The doctors said it was not 2nd degree burns, only first. In other words, a regular sun burn.
And did you see the women's complexion. She has very fair skin and I bet her children do also. Them little kids could have looked as red as a lobster and not even had a serious sun burn.
I say it again. This is a very scary country to live in. I am so glad my kids are raised and on their own.

I agree. I think many outspoken Freepers will eventually find themselves in some kind of hot water legally speaking.
We are moving away from being free and into an era of writing new laws to restrict each other.
Very often people say "that should be illegal" and soon, it is. But, unwittingly, they restrict the lives of others, yet they are passing laws that harm themselves, as well.
