While many Missouri voters would have voted for Carnahan had he lived, some Democrats believe that momentum was shifting toward his opponent, incumbent John Ashcroft, at the time of the crash. </i< That's odd, I seem to recall that Ashcroft was leading by a pretty comfortable margin at the time of carnahan's demise, no?

The star needs to be drowned out by the voices of the sane..
Go Talent Go!

So, the lady gets elected once because she has no qualifications, and for that reason she should be reelected? That's called politics in America.

Not only did he have a good lead at the time, but he put the campaign on hold for a week out of respect to the tragedy. He didn't contest either her legal opportunity to run or the fact that the day was getting longer and longer when the polls finally closed.

St.L corruption is responsible for Ma Carnahan being where she is. Thousands of "dual residents" in St.L. Over 1K dead voted. And that has been proven, so far. Maybe higher. Polls stayed open several hours longer. Buses brought in out of area voters,etc.etc.
Check out the map of how the CCW vote went in Missouri in 1999, then superimpose it over the election map of 2K. Little difference.
Also, whenever a Congressional widow runs, they get elected 90% of the time. In that respect, Missouri is NO different than any other state.

she has compiled a fairly centrist voting record for a state that historically tracks toward the political middle. I don't know. When I steal an election from a well-respected fellow Missourian, and out of respect for widder-wimmen everywhere, he doesn't protest a peep, I don't think it is very "centrist" to vote against him in Senate confirmation hearings four months later. In fact, I would consider that a very political, viscious, bitchy, cold, back-stabbing act. But then, I'm not a DemocRAT widder-woman. Maybe that's they way they think. fsf

"...but still they should want to put her back in DC and for six years this time?!" This election is only to fill out the rest of the current term. Whoever wins will be up for re-election again in 2006.

Attack-style politics generally turns off women voters, and Talent needs to do better among women than he did when he unsuccessfully ran for governor in 2000. He lost by only 21,000 votes. Of course, according to the KC Red Star it had to do with women voters and not the massive vote fraud going on in democrat districts. Nary a word has been printed about the outright election theft in KC and St. Louis by the democrat party in 2000 where millions of Missourians were denied their Constitutional right to a free and fair democratic election.

Thanks for the PING, troutstalker. I'm surprised Talent isn't focusing on da widder's penchant for checking with HILLARY! and comapny before casting votes on the floor of the Senate. And the fact that she stabbed Ashcroft in the back on his nomination vote, being that he conceded gracefully to vote tally on election night and that they are both from the same area of Missouri (SW).
All that aside, I do my troutin' at Montauk SP. Nuthin like casting from six rows back on opening day and negotiating a triple-quadruple entanglement before breakfast.
