But civvies can be counted on to screw up anything.

As opposed to the various cops who shoot themselves in the ass because they can't keep their finger off the trigger until after they finish their draw, or shoot unarmed suspects in the back with a full clip, etc?

what you're proposing isn't going to happen unless there is total civil war ... and even then I doubt it ... getting pilots armed is next to impossible ... and that makes sense ... you can't have a bunch of citizens shooting on a plane ... how many? 5? 10? 25? ... putting a person on a plane like that makes them effectively air marshals ... why not do it that way?

Pilots were armed just shortly before Sept 11, 2001. I think it was in 1999 when pilots were disarmed by the Clinton administration.

I have not heard this ... well, I'm all for pilots being armed ... well there were the drunk ones ... yikes ... but pilots should have been armed a long time ago ... El Al should be asked to provide some pointers ...
