I guess it is for the same reason that The Osbournes is such a hit. People know that Ozzy has fried his brains on drugs, but they cannot help but watch and laugh. Uh Oh, you're going to get flamed for that. There are a lot of fans of the philosopher and gentleman Ozzy, and his refined and polished wife Sharon.

This site is one of the best places I have been to. I have met Conservatives of every stripe here and made some lifelong friends, both locally and across the nation. It really breaks my heart to some infantile people abuse this forum.I couldn't have said it better.

Sir/ma'am please except my apologies if you thought I was using your name. There is quite a bit of difference in the the two.
Yours is cute and a sentence without a period. And by the way, I've never seen such a unique screen name. Where ever, did you find it? Also the other is one being used by someone at THAT other site.
Again, please except my apologies and have a wonderful Sunday with your family.
Best regards,
Dixie Sass

All I have to say is I remember MurryMom ;-).Ahh, MurryMom. Her MO was basic spoilerplate: Make a seemingly guileless point that, upon a second's reflection was not guileless at all but calculated to maximally incense the FReepers, and then...disappear. And watch with delight...as one after another incensed FReepers were drawn into her tat.
All the MurryMoms in the world combined would have little effect on this forum if more of us could learn to discern such spoilers and then simply refrain from engaging with them. They delight in any attention, so withdraw it and they will wither.

Morning Arne, just read your post. You know you can support someone without agreeing 100% with everything they say. As a matter of fact, if agreement was 100% of the time, that's when I would get awfully suspicious, wouldn't you?
Blind followers are as bad as the leadership that they follow so blindly.

I have as much right to do so as you have to tell me I have no right to do so.
So there.
My opinion stands: FR has become the dumping ground for every crack-pot, cockamamie conspiracy theorist who has enough nickels in his piggy bank to buy a roll of tinfoil.
I see the threads pulled almost daily now, and those are mostly the people that are then turning "anti-FR" and causing all the ruckus.
IMO, more strict guidelines are needed.
Heck, I'd settle for strict ENFORCEMENT of the guidelines we have: "No hate, no racism," and no bashing of religion.

No. I have rather defended the tradition of religious pluralism that is a hallmark of this country's freedoms.
People like you, OTOH, have declared that a little fascism can be a good thing.
Whatever.

It might not be a bad idea to do that. Maybe we should... we have spoken of the President leading by example, maybe we should have the candidates take refresher courses in American History, Civics - with special emphasis on the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and the Bill of Rights, Georgraphy and last but not least economics.
While we are at it, we should have all candidates who are running for public office take the same course, with special emphasis on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
I have a dream... that someday in America we will have politicians who are REALLY working for the people and not lining their own pocket. Sighhhhhhhhhh, dream on Dixie!

what about a false religion like Islam?

At first glance, when looking at the Packers logo, it looks like someone sitting in a wheelchair - also, second, third and fourth glances - I wonder do the packers only play against people in wheel chairs? Is that what the logo means? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm????

Without substantiation, are these not the very same reactionary remarks, that DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet is railing against, that are lobed out into the forum that are intentionally incendiary? The kind of thing that Mr. Robinson wants to avoid, thus damaging the image of FR and a blatant infringement of his guidelines?
To: Jim Robinson
Their current attack is centered around an attempt to break up the Free Republic Network ... For those of us with a life, I can't help wondering what this is.
I barely have time to get a sufficient FR fix daily.
I don't have time to visit other sites.
Apologies to all if this seems disloyal.
To: sweetliberty
Ping! Maybe we need to haunt and spike the AF sites like we do the 'Rat Cellar? parsy.
To: F.J. Mitchell
Define your idea of radical points of view.Sure.
Advocating murder. Advocating genocide. Advocating the killing of people because they speak a different language. Advocating machine-gunning of illegal immigrants.
That's a tiny little short-list for you.

Thanks for your response. So I guess you are the Anti-Bots. Glad to know what you think of yourself and others. If you're not a Bot then an Anti-Bot it must be. So seems to me you're in the same league you described just on the opposite sideline.
I either have to leave or insist the Bots stop that behavior.
Well I don't run this site so I can't assist you in either option you have chosen. I guess we'll not be seeing you around if JimRob decides not to enforce your insistance. If that's the case enjoy your time where ever you choose to land. However it maybe that you'll decide to stay and try to get you points across and grow a thicker skin. I'm very sure the avid supporters of President Bush, Keyes, Buchanan, Browne, Nader, Clinton, the Congress, etc. all feel or have felt just like you when they've also been called every name in the book by you Anti-Bots.
Bots versus the Anti-Bots.... May the best Bot win.

Control freaks. Each and every one. They can't help themselves. It's easy enough to totally ignore control freaks, they tend to use the "I want" phrase (or the equivalent) a lot.
Until they become moderators...

Would you like me to hurl an epithet at you? I don't think so. Hmmmmmmm.
I've found that sensitivity to epithets is not a good sign.
Aren't well-adjusted informed adults immune to name calling?
To: Illbay
then you really don't want to know what I think should happen to the terrorist nations.....
