":) True. It's mostly because I am going to be in Texas for a week or two and I really want to ask NaL about the restaurant he got those kick ass Cajun shrimp from last time I was in town.... "

Sorry, the restaurant has since gone out of business, and I have moved to Florida.

If you don't like a certain organization/point of view, well, the net is big enough that you are free to go wherever you want to, to associate with those of your same mind. Just find another group and hang with them, and if you can't find one that fits, start your own.

Ah, but you are a normal rational person. They are not.

For the benefit of myself and others, just what is an "FAB board"?

Freeper Advisory Board. A group of more-active freepers meant to provide some advice to the direction of FR.

Hey, JR keeps posting these threads, -- and being one of the charter members of the old AFhole troll group, it is me civic duty to attend.

Try to treat that twinge with a tweek of rationality. --- I know - its tough to find in your circle.

At one time, Jim was thinking of making the Forum a non profit. I suggested he may need a group of dedicated FReepers from which to get advice and to draw on in selecting officers, Board members, operational types, etc. This became the Forum Advisory Board. Later, Jim decided it wasn't in the Forum's interest to go NP and other issues cropped up that kept the FAB from realizing it's original charter.

I joined FR recently, and have found the network to be extremely informative and lively.

It was always better in the "old days" mad_tom. I've been around since 1998 and there were plenty of kooks and self detructive people then too.

FreeRepublic.com is as good as it gets on the internet. Always has been, always will be.

"A few more FR-geezers, and it'll be 'old home' week."

I was thinking the exact same thing. Many of the names I've seen bouncing around this thread I haven't seen for ages.

Jim, in all the time I've been a FReeper I've never seen one ounce of anything that would even suggest impropriety from you or FR. You have THE PREMIER political website out there. It's well run, extremely informative and a HOOT to boot! Keep up the good work.

If DonMorgan shows up I will faint dead away.

If A+Bert shows up, I'll know this is all just a bad dream.

Makes me wish I hadn't lurked for a year and a half before registering.
Someone's gonna see my Feb. '99 sign up and call me a newbie.

Thanks for shining the light of day on this mess. I'm a loner, hate gossip, and still the rumors of unfair banning, and shenanagins have reached even me, it's been upsetting, and not my experience at all.

I had the honor of meeting you in Dallas, I trust you, I know how much you love FR and how dedicated you are to it's image and success. I'm hoping what happened in SC was because being new to activism people make mistakes, can't deliever what they hope they can, and make bad decisions not just to save face, but because of a sincere attempt to promote fledgling organized conservatism. Should that turn out not to be the case, I know you would not have a thing to do with it. I'm heart broken over all the hurt going on, but I resent those that think they own FR because they donate, and that would attempt to destroy one of the best hopes for promoting conservative ideas on the web out of personal disappointment or paranoia.

I looked you right in the eye in Dallas, I think I read you pretty good. You have my support and you are in my prayers.

If anyone wants to get an idea how many old timers are here on this thread, hover your mouse pointer over their name and look at the script line that shows up at the bottom of your computer. The last number is their registration ID number. FR has around 80000 or so registered users, that should give you an idea.

Lol, wouldn't that be something to see A+ again. There are so many that I would love to see again.

Maybe we should have Doug or Mud write a song about being with in freeper heaven or something... lol. Can you just imagine!
