"... the incident began after a Wooster Post trooper initiated a traffic stop around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of ... "
"Matthews got out of his car with the handgun and fired first. He was armed with a Czechoslovakian semiautomatic handgun, ..."
"... the suspect was firing a high-powered semiautomatic weapon."

How old was he?
Do you know the source for the pulled article?
To: Demidog
DD, I never met him face to face. But I have pictures of a 6-foot, 300-pound white man said to be the image of Don Matthews.
To: RGSpincich
Your insults are not required. Do you disagree that the picture showing a dead man in front of two police cruisers above looks like a black man or not?

Hasn't the Trilateral Commission already doctored the tape? Why do you feel that this sort of baiting is necessary?

Betty Boop posted a second thread, after you, later this morning. That post has since been deleted by the Admin Moderator, allegedly because some FReepers posted comments that could be construed as pro-cop-killing. Apparently, BB was a friend of Matthews, and he/she had spoken with the widow today. The widow is shaken and doesn't understand how this could have happened.

Just anticipating any possible responses to Reality.
To: sourcery
Is it fair? In short, sourcery: NO. Looks like CJ is reading a whole lot of his own "stuff" into the picture. But it's an interesting "spin."
To: Demidog
From the picture, he looks like a blue-gray, dead man.
To: Cultural Jihad
CJ, "Czechoslovakian semiautomatic handgun" is about as informative as "United States semiautomatic handgun" - or even saying something to the extent that it was a Glock or a Sig - how many calibers does Sig have? I remember that I had never heard of that type of handgun before, but I, on the great ladder of FR firearms knowledge, am camped down on the very bottom rung of the ladder. I was hoping if we had the specifics for the weapon, someone could tell us the probable caliber. Of course, that does not mean that it wasn't the same as the caliber of the weapons used by the police in the incident...

Thanks. Do you remember - from the other article - how old he was?

The cop-killer was 61.

Hey, I didn't say it before but I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I hope that for the sake of everyone involved that the truth is what is revealed and not some smear-laden facsimile. Even if it is shown that he was totally responsible, the insults and smears serve none of us. Sorry you've had to witness that regarding your friend.
Best we can do is pray for the slain officer's family and Mr. Matthew's family.

Sometimes, it is more effective to simply invite others to make up their own minds, instead of "subtly" suggesting to them what their opinion should be (by stating your own.)
To: Cultural Jihad
Just anticipating any possible responses to Reality. And you can justify the baiting why exactly? You haven't answered the question. I don't have a habit of denying verifiable facts. But you can offer some evidence that I do in order to justify your extremely rude conduct, correct?

Thank you, DD. I hope there will be an exhaustive investigation of these events, and that a truthful account will be fully, publicly disclosed.
To: Demidog
Read the article. There is no reason for having to guess at what's under a tarp. Dead things turn different colors.
To: Demidog
I don't have a habit of denying verifiable facts. Such as calling traffic stops a 'constitutional crisis.'
