I not trying to be mean or sound condescending if I came off that way I apologies

However you really got my curiosity up when you spoke of a voter registration card thinking I was missing something so I called the Los Angeles Registrar - Recorder/County Clerk

Per the Registrar - Recorder there is no voter registration card in California that functions as any kind of I.D. to vote

There is a one time postcard sent out when you first register just to confirm it and also any changes you might make but is meaningless at the polls

The Registrar – Recorder did say that people offen do hold on to the cards and sometimes it can be used as a kind of I.D. card ..but not to vote.

Again I not trying to be a pain but I do take voting seriously and ANYONE (like you reported)trying to prevent a registered voter from voting need to be reported to the Registrar – Recorder and that includes Republicans trying to stop Democrats

But if your Democrats friend (and any one else)is not sure of the voter status or polling place or a poll worker is giving them a hard time they needs to call there Registrar – Recorder... that postcard is just an a notification of a change of status on the voter rolls.
