Ahh, but Flander's kids refused to watch Davey and Goliath, since the idea of a talking dog was blasphemous.

Simpson's ping! ;-)

I'm Catholic too. I believe Davey and Goliath appealed to children of all faiths.

How can you be "ashamed to admit" that you are a "proud owner"?

I'm confused...

The owners already cheapened them in that commercial. Will this be MTV version?

Davey and Goliath were scary.

What you said. They creeped the hell outa me. And let's not even get into the freaky (and quite dysfunctional) Gumby family . . .

"We got hosed, Davey. We got hosed."

ROFLMAO!! I saw that commercial and just rolled. I remember thinking, "........not once in all the years I watched Davey and Goliath as a kid do I ever remember hearing them use the word 'hosed'." :)

It never even occured to me, growing up, that Davey and Goliath was a Lutheran thing. We used to watch it at Catholic Religious Instrucution class on Wednesday afternoons, on that special educational channel that only school TVs could pick up.

Yeah, we made fun of the show back then as kids, but it sort of hurts to see it mocked now, because in this cynical modern world, you cherish innocent things from childhood more and more.

...They creeped the hell outa me...

I liked the show, but there was definitely a creepy weirdness about it.

I read an interview with the show's creator once where he was asked about kids being scared by Davey and Goliath. The creator didn't know what he was talking about, but I immediately understood.

Davey someimes got the most pained, sad expression on his face. No other kid show showed such realistic pain in children.

Also, the show opened with that theme song ("A Mighty Fortress") played with trumpets (I think). That opening was like a signal that this is not your usual kid show. Then, even though it was shown on a commercial station, the show never had commercials. How weird is that?

To this day, when I think of Easter, I remember the special Easter episode - poor Davey is inconsolable with greif when his grandmother suddenly dies fifteen minutes or so into the episode. Since when do people die in kid shows?

That episode still creeps me out when I think of it. I don't know if I even watched the whole thing - no doubt at the end Davey learns that Grandma is still alive in their hearts or in heaven or something, but still...

Also, everyone on the show always pronounced the word "God" as "Gawd". Maybe that's just how they say it in Missouri or something, but to a kid who always heard the word as "Gahd", well, it just sounded weird and added to the overall strangeness of the show.

OK, that may be a bit extreme

Extreme No! given enough time even Davy and Goliath will be deemed non PC and be lobbied for change i hat to say this but it might be better off left alone i hate to see liberals get their hands on good things it winds up being ruined and rancid

A Davey and Goliath bump hey guys remember Davey and Goliath ?
