"You probably read the cookie dough thing from a tabloid--"

Indeed I did... though it was passed to me for comment, as I never read the tabloids (grin)... that plus a note that britney was SQUEEZING into tens... fwiw... I do believe it was possible at the time, and to me, size ten is not actually unreasonable... she is not really all that short. I was primarily reacting to the "whorish" comments made about Miss Coulter. Which I acknowledge YOU did not say. Ann is lovely, for her.

I also object to the anorexia comments anytime a woman has a six pack... they were not your comments.

I think we need to stop defending the self indulgence that has given us a health problem... and one step is to stop living in denial of the fact that ANN actually is athletic in her build, quite beautiful, and that the Catherin Mannheims of the world... are really not good role models for young women, just overindulgent eaters of food. Bigger is not always better.

"Fat" does not represent most conservative women I know.. and neither does the "neck and ankle" fashion police club... The ones I know, eat very sensibly, mindfully and conservatively... and work HARD to keep themselves fit and attractive, including the short skirts, bare midriffs, form fitting tops and vigorous exercise.

I think, BRITTANY looks fine in whatever she does or does not wear, and in fact she is wearing more than most do at the beach. KUDOS. And Ann coulter is (most likely) wearing at least a thong under her short skirts, which is at least the equivalent of a bathing suit at MOST california beaches and most resort hotels.

Conservative does NOT equal FAT, UGLY, Obese, unshaven legs, long skirts, breast camoflaging tops or one piece bathing suits... but to certain folks, getting saved has come to mean "get ugly and fat" so you won't be tempted to stray sexually. Since when did gluttony become preferable to lust as a lifestyle choice for "conservatives?"

I don't think conservative = christian... or vice versa, but folks here talk (at times) as though this site, this country and conservatism are all Christian. I don't see that happening, ever.

There seems to be an emergence of "Get Saved = Get ugly, Get married = dress like a prude" mentality, which might not be the best strategy for advertising ones faith, conservative values, or pleasing ones marital partner for long either...

There may be an outside possibility that becoming an overweight prude is actually DISpleasing to God.

Since when did being a conservative or a christian equate with becoming sexually repulsive to the opposite sex... male or female? I object to that paradigm as being fallacious.

I had some aquaintances who believed that way, and the girls/women did not BATHE or shave, in order to keep the "men" around them from "lusting" and therefore "committing adultery" in their hearts... and that thinking is none other than talibanistic bullsh1rt.

The comments here about ann being whorish in any way, because of her skirt length, were wrong... and if she is slutty and whorish to some folks... then we need a lot more of that "look" to become mainstream among conservative women. I for one am tired of the "love yourself, eat all you can and get fat", "supersize the french fries culture" which does NOT represent a lot of conservative leaning individuals. AND I realize that YOU did not say that either.

It goes to the overall context.

Regarding your music comment... to me all male pop singers and "dancers with hand jive music"... is "back street boyz" my name for a musical genre... and to me, ME mind you... that genre is totally GAY.. as in "Village People" so I don't listen to it... It's just my own taste.

I am pleased to hear that britney has dumped the guy... if she has. I hope she does if she has not yet.

For my own listening pleasure and raising my energy level, I would prefer TOOL, BUCK CHERRY... or something like that, MOST of the time.

And for the record, all you fat police, Britney Spears is absolutely my role model for a gorgeous body. She is thin where I can be thin, and fat where I will always be fat (breasts and bum). She looks to be in great physical shape. Not fat at all, in any way. Camryn Manheim is fat. Rosie O'Donnell is fat. Britney ain't fat. Get over yourselves.

I agree with EVERY word you say there...

However there were RUMORS in the press that britney had gone from size four to over ten after her breakup... accompanied by a few photos... and that was what I was referring to... as for your "waistline expletives" directed at me for saying Americans need to cut the fat... and take knowledge of allowable fat/lean body weight percentages...

Those statistics are not mine, but are usually posted the metropolitan life schedules (mortality rates and actuarial tables) that doctors and health insurance companies use to predict heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes probabilities. Wrist size, waist size and fat ratios predict death rates... and AMERICA is getting seriously obese, in a time of war. BUSH asked us to do something about it personally. I take it seriously.

and regarding why I made the very first comment I did about WAISTLINES, I was refuting the NUMEROUS comments about ANN coulter being anorexic because she has a six pack abdomen in photo as posted in exhibit #1... she looks good for a forty something.

so please keep the F%#@ stuff to yourself... and don't tell me that Ann is SICK or a slut. And don't side with the folks who are attacking her here.

The truth is, I disagree with you... not at all, in context of the thread.

and so if you have a figure anywhere close to brittany's... or are working towards it, Indeed, KUDOS to you. I hope you live long and prosper.

Help somebody close to you, to get in shape while you are at it.

Sheesh, you need to take over Aisha Tyler's position in E!'s Talk Soup blathering talk show.

It has been my experience that the only people who find the members of N'Sync to be "gay" are those who are jealous of the band or are trying to compensate for something--and I am NOT saying that you are.

As for Britney, she hasn't ballooned to a size 10 and is still a reasonable size 4, IMHO. Those recent pictures in In Style Magazine sure don't look like a size 10 to me. Britney has a great body and is in great shape.

"It wouldn't be a weight contest if you didn't have 5 or 10 extremely rude male FReepers (who probably aren't too great looking themselves) telling other FReepers that Britney Spears is fat and we should all look like Ann Coulter or Calista Flockhart. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way either of those two women look, but that doesn't mean everyone else should (or even could) look that way."

Exactly. Besides, the majority of men out there aren't going crazy for Calista Flockhart, a most annoying actress in all accounts, but for curvy women like Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

That is why many young women really do not mind Britney.

talk soup a radio program... ???

sorry I don't get much TV time.

I think I'll just pass on the back street genre... you enjoy!

In Style??? a mag???

Never saw the instyle photo you speak of... I did see a pretty damning photo at the grocery store checkout... if she is a size four in THAT picture on the cover I saw... I will eat my hat. Perhaps it was "photoshopped" with kai's power tools...

She looked good in the photos you posted... I can agree with that. Were THEY the ones from in style?

Yes, all of the pictures I posted were from this year's July issue of In Style Magazine, an affiliate of People Magazine, which I believe is owned by AOL Time Warner.

In Style is a nice magazine because it has the usual fashion and beauty sections, but it doesn't have those dumb X-rated Cosmo stories, which is what sets it apart from the other trashy women's magazines out there.

Those two women above are good examples of what a healthy female looks like--they aren't "chunky" or "porky".

I don't know if I would use the term "healthy".

Britany looks like she's wear a maternity outfit in that photo. Can't really see her body under that thing.

Anyway by "porky" I didn't mean Britany is grossly obese or anything like that.
It just seems that no matter how in shape she gets, she still has that thick look. Especially her plump baby fat face.

And with all due respect that one standing on the left could drop a few pounds. That tight outfit really makes her look dumpy.

The 70's look, along with torquoise jewelry, is very hip right now. So be prepared to see more of it in the future. She was wearing these clothes because they are fashionable and comfortable, not because she is "porky".

Britney has a heart-shaped face, so it will always be round and as for her being "plump", you are crazy and have unrealistic expectations for women.

And I am not some kind of feminist or anything, because I believe that women often to the same sort of thing to men too.

Actually like most people my ideal of female beauty is influenced by the images portrayed on TV, in magazines and by models who tend to be on the thin side.

However, in everyday life I find women with a fuller figure are often more physically attractive to me.

First you say you like super skinny women, now you are saying that you like fuller figured women--to the casual eye it would appear that you can't make up your mind. I just say that you are probably just appreciative of women, period.

Thank you. Marilyn had more sex appeal with her clothes on than any of the current bunnies have with their clothes off.

Thanks Weatherman... It's amazing to me, after being gone for a couple years, to come back to this unbelievable judgemental, cannibalistic atmosphere.

Sad.

And it's funny... you don't hear too many posts about how the men on TV look, dress, etc. I basically just see posted what they say... I think Ann deserves the same treatment from us.

Thanks for the affirmation.

IT is a liberal concept, presuming to define morality and "appropriate discretion" for others...

govern your self. ANN looks fine.

Oh my GOD! Are you serious, or just seriously challenged?
Presuming to define morality for others in a LIBERAL concept?!?
So Bob Bennet is a liberal?
And Jerry Falwell is a liberal?

No, defining morality seems to be the very definition of conservative.

socialists are by definition liberals.

social conservatives are NOT conservatives in any way... beleiving in the use of state power to coerce behaviors consistent with sectarian religious points of view.

falwell is a liberal, like a green party member is... they both want to establish a social order of their own design. Requiring the aegis of government, more and more laws, and deprecation of the rights of rugged individualist people.

If more rules, laws and bigger government programs to stop "sin" and "immorality" was the way to go, we would already be a perfected utopian society of one kind or another... as it is, the more SOCIAL order is imposed on us via statism, the more lawless the general populace becomes.

Laws often are but a means to create ever new classes of criminals. Falwell's followers would criminalize actions of free citizens that are now legal... they are literally drooling in their shorts over the freedom of the internet... And the greenies want to make it illegal to eat a hamburger, and a federal felony to cook one on the grill. BOTH want more laws to enforce on the rest of us.

MIND your self. LEAVE others alone. Clean up your own messes and stay out of the ones that belong to other people. Become an individual, instead of a follower of particular social orders ordained by other men.... or not...

But YES... falwell and mr. "slouching towards the desert table" bennet are socialists. Advocating a focus on social order, instead of individual freedoms... which is why my family fled Europe in 1550... 225 year or so, before the formation of this GREAT nation of FREE INDIVIDUALS...

You want social order. Move to Britain, where social order demands you cannot have a gun or hunt for your own dinner.

Socialist is just as evil with the word Christian in front of it, as it is with the word SOVIET.
