The California Democrat said U.S. intelligence intercepts have picked up "people suggesting that he might have been connected.
Duh.. I guess "US Intelligence" might have turned on the news or read a paper or something because it was "suggested" all over the place..
And just like "US Intelligence" they had no proof.. so it remained a "suggestion"
(this is news? how desperate are these people?)

Yes, but those thousand cuts will be effective only when they are all at once...like I think they are planning...

I have a huge problem with internment camps, by that name or any other, at this point in time. Who will be put in them? Just anybody Middle Eastern? Just anybody Muslim? It would be wrong. Why? Do you think Sep. 11, 2001 was of less importance, than Pearl Harbor?
Do you know anything about WWII? Who was interned? How long? Why? What would get you out?
Did you know that Japanese, Italians and Germans were interned?
What makes a non-citizen from a middle-eastern country any less dangerous, than the aforementioned nationalities?
We won WWII, partly because we could still think and act with common sense. We have less of it, now.

Yes, but those thousand cuts will be effective only when they are all at once...like I think they are planning...I doubt their capability to launch concurrent attacks on a significant scale. We were off guard on Sept 11 and we (i.e. the American people) still managed to fight off the fourth attack destined for the White House. Today, we are on guard - aware that there are maniacs out there who want to kill us and our families. I highly doubt that in a society in which information travels as quickly as it does in ours, a society that is as aware of the threats facing it as ours is, massive simultaneous attacks can be pulled off. What can be pulled off, is many smaller attacks, but that simply won't cut it. Sure, it'll scare a lot of people, but it won't do the kind of harm al-Qaeda wants to do.

We won WWII, partly because we could still think and act with common sense. Are you saying we won WW2 because of our internment of American citizens of Japanese and German descent?
I always thought it was because we nuked the hell out of the Japanese and basically had them $hitting in their pants; and because of our superior geopolitical and military 'strategery' in Europe.

Did you notice that phrase "at this point in time"?

The whole "dry run" concept is fundamentally idiotic. It wasn't a "dry run" it was a wet run. In a dry run a guy might have tried to carry a weapon and wander around the El Al Counter and leave.
All the actual attack did was increase security outside the gates at airports and make future attacks HARDER.
It either wasn't connected to Al Qaeda at all, and if it was, the best the vaunted Al Qaeda with their supposed thousands of sleepers could come up with for July 4th was a middle-age limo driver, a couple of Glocks, and a big knife.

You ought to be called anti-AM2000. The Arabs don't need to be taught the "death by a thousand cuts". They've been conducting sneak attacks and raids for 3000 years. The idea that the waited around until the CIA "taught" them this is ludicrous.

Are we on guard against people walking down the street or driving in cars?
are we on guard against people walking into malls and shopping centers/schools/libraries/hospitals?
I dont think so at all.
The death of a thousand cuts. And if done in one week, thousands will die all over the country, panic, looting, indiscriminate shootings after that against any arab looking person...

..and it did look more like something put on by one guy than a plan put together by a cell of experienced people...Yes it does, which must have come as a great disappointment to Mr. Ridge. If the shooter was Al-Qaeda, surely he would have been at the American counter, not El Al.

A jihadist? Al Queerda? What a coincidence!
