She NEVER checked on the children. They WERE NOT her PRIORITY!!!

Just another in a long list of lies.

I'm not sure what you're saying, FDA. Help me out here. Is it...

1. Westerfield is innocent.
2. The parents are swingers.
3. The police should have investigated the parents further.
4. Because of the police's bungling, we don't know if the parents were involved, and may never know.
5. Therefore, in defense of Westerfield's innocence, it is "right and proper" to post messages implying that the parents actually killed their daughter.

Is that the line of reasoning? If so, I don't see the connection between point 4 and point 5, and I again suggest that you lay off the parents UNLESS you are prepared to allege, factually, that they DID kill their little girl.

I'm prepared to allege, factually, that David Westerfield murdered Danielle. I have stated it as a fact here and elsewhere, leaving myself completely open to libel and slander if it turns out that David Westerfield is innocent. In other words, when I make a post implying that Westerfield is guilty, or parodying his guilt, it is because I have had the guts to declare that he is guilty, and my statements flow naturally from my belief.

If you don't have the same conviction, then your similar treatment of the Van Dams does not flow naturally from your true beliefs, and perhaps you should just attack the evidence and not the parents, at least for the murder. If you want to slam them for their lifestyle, for their supervision of their daughter, that's fine, I'd probably agree with you. But not for the murder.

I believe this because most of the so-called evidence is over exaggerated, Kim. YOU have been here from day one and read all the posts, are you dense, did you not understand what we are saying?

I really don't care to impress you, Kim...there is an entire forum dedicated to getting away from twisted logic such as yours..thank God. It's called Refugee, an elite club of people who respect each other..

Defiant, you know better than to even suggest a FReeper can be sued on this Forum. We got into that subject last week. No can do...sorry.

But the Van Dams are in grave peril of being sued by Feldman for hindering the sale of HIS house, the one he took over from Westerfield...now there's a real law-suit getting ready to happen.

Court TV and Nancy Grace have crossed the lines, and no longer speak of Westerfield as the "alledged suspect"...in fact, they brutalize his character every hour they broadcast live. If DW is acquited, do you think he can go after these people?

Finally, Defiant, I find it hard to believe that someone of your high intelligence couldn't believe that a parent is capable of murdering their own child? Even accidentally...Do you believe this can't happen? Of course you don't.

Report: Police Question Man In Calif. Girl Case

Suspect May Have Scratches On Hands, Arms, Face

Posted: 7:53 a.m. EDT July 18, 2002
Updated: 2:32 p.m. EDT July 18, 2002

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- MSNBC is reporting that there is a potential suspect in custody in the Samantha Runnion case.

He was reportedly arrested in Fresno, Calif., and he fits the general description of the suspect and he was apparently driving a green car, MSNBC reported. The network said the man was apparently checking out children at a rest stop. He was reportedly pulled over for a traffic citation and has not been charged.

The sheriff of Orange County, Calif., earlier said authorities are following hundreds of leads in the case.

A body found in the region this week was confirmed to be the 5-year-old girl, who was kidnapped near her home on Monday. An autopsy showed she had been sexually assaulted and suffocated.

Sheriff Mike Carona said that evidence shows Samantha may have put up a struggle, so the killer might have scratches on his hands, arms or face. Carona says investigators believe he also might have gotten rid of the light green Honda he was believed to have been driving during the kidnapping.

The sheriff is urging people to look out for people they know who are suddenly driving rental cars, or have asked to borrow a friend's car. alt

Carona repeated authorities' fears that the suspect may strike again.

He says Samantha's mother is grieving like any parent would, especially knowing her daughter would have turned six later this month.

Vigil Near Home Of Murdered Girl

"It's the saddest thing I've ever seen." That's the comment of one woman at last night's vigil near Samantha Runnion's home in Stanton, Calif.

The 5-year-old was snatched from outside the home Monday night and her body was found Tuesday along a highway 50 miles away.

Police are still hunting for a suspect. He's described as a man with slicked-back hair and a thin mustache. They're also warning parents he will probably try to take another child.

One woman brought her three children to view a memorial for Samantha and says she's making the kids watch television coverage of the murder investigation.

She says, "They need to know this."

Hi, Defiant: I've been a bit afraid of you for the last few days because you've seemed to be lashing out at those of us who think Westerfield is not guilty. I wanted to commend you, though, for this well-reasoned post. I appreciate the point you're making, and the way you're making it. (I hope that didn't sound patronizing, because it isn't meant to be.)

We all just want to absolute, unadulterated truth. We as tax paying, hard working citizens (and God fearing humans) deserve that. I am simply praying that the rumors proved unfounded.

I'm sure you guys realize that some people are more social than others...and busy bodies can make mountains out of molehills. It could be this swinger thing is just that. But if it's not, and they went to church while living that kind of a lifestyle, then chalk two more hypocrites up in the sexual deviants tally marks. People can and do give Christians a bad name. :(

Post 204:

AH, I was going by the fact that it was possible the child was taken afterwards..if the dad was asleep before mom came home, anything is possible. BTW, It's possible the door was left unlocked for mom, or he fell asleep on accident while watching tv. I've done that myself! I think the timeline maybe a bit confusing. THANK GOD the Van dams have witnesses to the timeline. I'm sure their witnesses saved their backsides...considering the awful rumors being spread.

And other reporters have noted that she did rehearse some of her press conferences--so I'm not that far off the track here.

In my college speech class, my instructor told me that if I would have looked at the audience and not read the speeches, I would have gotten an A instead of a B. Give me xanax, and get rid of my stage fright..MAYBE I could speak on camera to the nation. :-\

Who DOES lead a perfect lifestyle? Does that statement mean they're admitting? I'm still praying it's rumors. The van dams said those allegations are just that..rumors. I hope to God that these folks are not what little the little dj is claiming..I noticed it happened afte rthe "bulldog" attny was hired. VELLY VELLY INTELLESTING.

Post 453: Ok....thanks for clarifying. That's when he was asking her to hook him up with girlfriends? The news reports called it a restaurant with bar..that's a big difference.

Of course, if it's a bar that sells dive hamburgers..that's one thing. But I seriously doubt it considering the kind of money they made.

ALL accounts and reports of neighbors, friends, family and school mates say that the kids were well taken care of , that the mom was extremely active in her kids lives as most moms in that area are..so... I don't see a problem yet.

Kim perhaps, the Southern Cal LE is handling this case differently because the want to avoid certain mistakes made by the SDPD. I bet dollars to donuts that the Southern Cal LE uses a 35mm camera to take photos of evidence.

FRESNO ON THE MAP!!!

Police Question Man In Runnion Case

Sheriff: Samantha's Killer Could Strike Again

UPDATED: 11:29 a.m. PDT July 18, 2002

California Highway Patrol in Fresno stopped a man -- possibly in connection with the Samantha Runnion case. The 37-year-old suspect has reportedly been taken to the Fresno County Jail where he will be questioned.

The 5-year-old girl was kidnapped, sexually assaulted and asphyxiated before her body was dumped near a rural highway like a "calling card" warning that the killer intends to strike again, investigators said Wednesday.

Defiant, I'm so glad you write the way you do. When I see a long, drawn out post that makes no significant points within the first few sentences, I know it's yours, and I just keep paging down until I find a post from someone who actually has something to say.

"This is in no way related to the investigation," Brenda van Dam said. "Nothing would get in between me checking on my children. It's a rumor. I don't know why people would want to be hurtful."

It would be pretty difficult to find a more perfect example of a non-denial denial than the above quote from BVD. She never says that the "rumor" is untrue, just that nothing would have kept her from checking on her children (which, as a matter of fact, she DIDN'T do).

They also have not admitted to bringing home strangers...you and the defense have not been able to prove that brenda was anything but a loudmouth, drunken flirt that friday night. (the 22 yr old dude could have been naive enough to believe her..WHO KNOWS!!)

Yeah, well maybe Ryan the Cutie Pie was mistaken, but Cherokee Youngs also said that Brenda tried to pick her up, and Cherokee strikes me as anything but naive.
