Joe, here is the new link to today's big fire map. (Link to National Big Fire Map)

Oregon has less fires in the SW area. We have more in Kali., including 4 new ones up north and one that looks like it is around the Big Sur area.

We started off with a North breeze this morning. The North Wind is a drying wind and often shoots down from Southern and SW Oregon. When that happens, often Oregon will be hot, windier and drier.

Weekends are particuliarly dangerous with smokers in the woods and flipping lighted ciggies out the windows. Then you have the idiots who start a bonfire to enjoy the great outdoors.

This is not the weekend to be camping in Oregon or Kali..

There are weather warnings of electrical storms throughout most of Kali today and this weekend. Then, we are supposed to enter one of those high pressure involvements on Tuesday. This will mean higher and drier North Winds after possible lightening strikes.

Hi Joe. No, I don't know anything about the Sisters fire! I gotta say, I absolutely LOVE Sisters, and that whole corner of the state, from Sumpter to Sisters to Prineville, Bend and the Wallowas. I spent most of my life in North Idaho, Alaska and Northwest Montana, and that part of Oregon is the closest I've seen to those beautiful states!
