His lawyer figures that in 17 years, the public will forget about him, what he's done, and the bruhaha.
Perhaps President Hillary will even commute his sentence as she leaves office...
Alternate lawyer plan, (ala Mandela). The muslim hordes overthrow the American government and honor Lindh for being the only 'American' to tough it out for their 'struggle'.

Or this traitor might get a presidential pardon. Look wat hat Clinton did -- pardoning Marc Rich, a pedophile, drug dealers, etc.
