Mornin' Greg!

What is PCR?
PCR is an acronym which stands for polymerase chain reaction. The PCR technique is basically a primer extension reaction for amplifying specific nucleic acids in vitro. The use of a thermostable polymerase allows the dissociation of newly formed complimentary DNA and subsequent annealling or hybridization of primers to the target sequence with minimal loss of enzymatic activity.
PCR will allow a short stretch of DNA (usually fewer than 3000 bp) to be amplified to about a million fold so that one can determine its size, nucleotide sequence, etc. The particular stretch of DNA to be amplified, called the target sequence, is identified by a specific pair of DNA primers, oligonucleotides usually about 20 nucleotides in length.

OK, OK they framed Westerfield up, this poor scapegoat. Someone had to go down for this. LE decided he was a better target than a bunch of swingers and framed him.

Nah!

I'm kinda liken this guy guy up in Riverside too. It's looking like he's killed a couple of kids over the last few years.

The random coincidences that occur in everyday life provide a rich soil for false but seemingly undeiable connections between events and between people and events.

Here's a good article to study: Coincidences: Remarkable or Random?, Skeptical Inquirer magazine : September/October 1998.

"You don't believe in telepathy?" My friend, a sober professional, looked askance. "Do you?" I replied. "Of course. So many times I've been out for the evening and suddenly became worried about the kids. Upon calling home, I've learned one is sick, hurt himself, or having nightmares. How else can you explain it?"

Such episodes have happened to us all and it's common to hear the words, "It couldn't be just coincidence." Today the explanation many people reach for involves mental telepathy or psychic stirrings. But should we leap so readily into the arms of a mystic realm? Could such events result from coincidence after all?

...

Clearly, unspecified improbable coincidences occur daily to everyone, and these coincidences are most likely the result of randomness. If the data set is large enough, coincidences are sure to appear, as demonstrated with the first 100 decimal digits of p. The chance of tossing five straight heads is only 3 percent, but for 100 tosses the chance becomes 96 percent. Though applied in a different context, Ramsey theory (Scientific American, July 1990) states that "Every large set of numbers, points, or objects necessarily contains a highly regular pattern." It is not necessary to posit mysterious forces to explain coincidences.

I was thinking the other day that Danielle's DNA was so rare that they almost proved that she didn't exist.

Lets just hope the parents of the kid who was kidnapped yesterday have led the cleanest of clean lives. Down the road a sleazy defense lawyer could turn one slightly kinky affair into a courtroom sideshow savaging like a certain case going on right now.

Maybe Defiant knows, ask him!

Are you really *that* stupid, Greg? (Although why should I even ask...)

"one slightly kinky affair"

is not what we have in the DW case.

BTW, where was Brenda when Barbra and Denise pulled up?

OK perhaps O.J., another great "victim of circumstance" only endorses the article.

What has OJ got to do with it? You think he killed Danielle?

>>is not what we have in the DW case<<

It wouldn't matter much what it was. One kinky affair would be all a sleazy attorney would need to exploit. You can bet they will dig for anything they could get to use.

Wouldn't you expect them to, if you were paying them to defend you?

>>>What has OJ got to do with it?<<<

Westerfield and O.J. are both right up at the top of the list as the most "unlucky victims of circumstance" in the history of crime.

Which one do you think deserves the Number 1 spot??
