Larry tends to be more right than wrong about these things anyway.
Larry tends....... I think you are correct there

Not to the extent that he says, but I do still believe that Cheney has much power over what Bush says and does.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
You're parsing. You're doing EXACTLY what Klayman accuses others of doing, not being truthful.
We all KNOW you agree with him; at least be honest enough to admit it.

I thought parsing was taught in law school. I didn't realize it was offered at the undergraduate level.
To: Miss Marple; Howlin
This is a hands-on vice president.... He's a very sharp guy. He's known for his hands-on management style, particularly when he was secretary of defense during the Persian Gulf War. I'll agree that his use of the word defacto was poorly selected; but it's just a CNN interview. LK is stressing Cheney's hands-on approach to his jobs past and present.
It's almost like saying strategery or Grecians you know; no big deal.
There do you feel better now?
To: Howlin; FreedominJesusChrist
Howlin: Is Klayman right in your opinion when he says that Cheney is running this country as the defacto president?
FIJC: Objection, relevance.
Judge I. Jima: Objection overruled.
Howlin: In your opinion, is Klayman's statement correct?
FIJC: Klayman is right more than not. He never said that. That's not the purpose of this thread.
Howlin: Objection, non-responsive.
Judge I. Jima: Objection sustained. THE POSTER IS INSTRUCTED TO ANSWER THE QUESTION. Failure to do so will result in the poster being held in contempt of FreeRepublic.
To: Miss Marple; habs4ever
Most undergrad schools, at least any good one, will offer at least a semester's worth of law classes.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
This is not a shades of gray question. Larry says that Cheney is the de facto president. That he runs the country, not President Bush.
Nothing in this quote is about power exerted over someone.
Do you agree with Larry's statement or not?
To: Fred Mertz
You are parsing, too.
You can SEE the words right in front of you and you're trying to DISMISS them?
Are you saying Larry was lying about what he thought? Are you saying that Larry didn't MEAN what he said, he just said it to incite the reporters?

Like a I said before, I agree with Larry to a certain extent, but I am not sure that de facto was the best word he could have used.
To: Miss Marple
To a certain extent, yes.
To: Howlin
You're a real scab picker you know?
To: Miss Marple
Is this ridiculous cross-examination over yet? Because you aren't getting anything more out of me.
To: Howlin
The court will now entertain motions for contempt.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
Considering the fact that Klayman could not have been plainer in what he said, are you saying that Klayman was RIGHT?
Or are you saying that Larry was lying?

Yes, Larry didn't know the meaning of the word "de facto." I suppose you think he just threw that in for effect.
However, this argument (weak as it is) is further broken down by Larry's next statement, in which he says that Cheney "runs the country, in effect."
If I were you, I would just admit that Larry said this and he intended to say it. Otherwise you have to take the position that he doesn't know what he's talking about.
To: OneidaM; FreedominJesusChrist
Here--I'll make it easier for FreedominJesusChrist to read:
KLAYMAN: Well, and if you believe that, we're in deep trouble in the war against terrorism. This is a hands-on vice president. He is the de facto president. And he runs this country, in effect. He's a very sharp guy. He's known for his hands-on management style, particularly when he was secretary of defense during the Persian Gulf War.

Larry could have used a better word, but he honestly believes what he says, so he could not be lying.
To: Iwo Jima
Since the defendent has refused to answer any more questions from me, your honor, I move that a ruling of contempt be handed down.
