Why is OUR Air Force revealing this information ...??

Probably as a warning to the Arab nations to leave Israel the hell alone. They may have even done this with the blessings of the Israelis.

Then why isn't Israel at peace? They have, and have proved, superior regional military might.

A better question: Who or what is to stop Israel from taking and occupying more land from Syria, Jordan, and Egypt? Not that they would, mind you.

I've often thought about those questions myself...but I'll do you one better. Why isn't Israel playing a much larger role in Iraq? If I'm interpreting all the evidence that has been presented showing all of Saddam's WMD's,(Iraq does not have ICBM technology) isn't Israel (and perhaps Turkey) the one nation that is in the most immenant danger? And you can't use the world opinion or U.N. opinion excuse, we all know that they are irrelevant.

The "Arrow" is a theater anti-missle system developed by Israel. "Patriot" is a US system designed as an anti-aircraft system. During GW-I we used it in an anti-missle role for which it wasn't designed. With quickly upgraded software it had some success, but still wasn't an anti-missle system. It's been 10 years, want to bet the patriot isn't now an anti-missle system too?

By the way the "minuteman" which was an ICBM. It worked fine.

When did they test the effectiveness of their nukes

At least once in the ocean south of South Africa, quite some time ago.

Amazing. Someone makes what is most likely a true statement about espionage and theft from OUR country by a FOREIGN power, and is automatically called a "Klanner".

Amazing. Someone makes a pinheaded comment that isn't backed up by any factual evidence, and you pronounce it "most likely a true story," despite the fact that Israel's bomb was produced with French and South African help.

Sure your screen name shouldn't be "sneakywillis?" :o)

You could be right, but it would seem to me that this information would only give Iraq fuel to complain about Israel having Nukes - so why can't Iraq ...?

Of course we know the answer to that question.

How do we protect ourselves from their right to self-defense?

Iraq will strike Israel.

Our troops will have stayed a safe distance away from where Baghdad had been.

Do you think Saddam's plan includes using any or all of his arsenal?

FYI: have read/heard that the raw mat'ls for these bombs were obtained illegally and/or by theft-lots from U.S.. BUT HEY, what's a little espionage against us by an ally?!

What's the factual basis for this assertion? Where's your proof? (Hint: you can't link to any rag owned by Willis Carto)

despite the fact that Israel's bomb was produced with French and South African help.

Is that the same thing as saying "WITHOUT any help from the US",or does it just say the French and the South Africans were also involved?". Hey,we all know how much the French love Jews,so it's no surprise they would help the Israeli's,right? Or could it be that the French involvement was with South Africa, and then South Africa made a business deal with Israel? A business deal where the South Africans were a "cut out" to hide US involvement, either official or unofficial?

Well,at least we now know what the official US stance is on these old rumors.

No thanks, bigot. They have too much in common with your JDL buddies. Flip sides of the same coin.

BTW,what with Israel being your first love and all, don't you feel like a hyporcrite living here in the US? Shouldn't you be putting your ass where your heart is? Or is your personal safety and your desire to amass personal wealth more important to you? If you were the true-believer you pretend to be,you would be wearing a uniform in Israel right now.

The US was rather pissed off at the Israelis for building the Dimona reactor, because the US was trying to keep France from developing nukes (Gosh, it seems Eisenhower was smarter than anyone gives him credit for).

Hey,we all know how much the French love Jews,so it's no surprise they would help the Israeli's,right?

In the 1950s and into the mid-1960s, the Israelis and the French had very close ties--notice the large numbers of Dassault aircraft in the Israeli Air Force starting in the 1950s. There were Israeli nuclear scientists at the first French nuclear test in 1960--because the French and the Israelis collaborated on nuclear weapons research. DeGaulle flipped to the Arabs in 1967 in return for oil.

Or could it be that the French involvement was with South Africa, and then South Africa made a business deal with Israel?

BZZT. Wrong answer!

Nope. The Israelis, after being dumped by the French, cut a deal with the South Africans--bomb design expertise in return for uranium...and the rest, as they say, is history.

Who cares how much they complain.

so why can't Iraq ...?

Because even their Arab neighbors don't want Iraq to have them. The truth is THEY are in more danger of a nuke or other WMD attack from Iraq than the Israelis or the US. The US and Israel have the ability and the will power to totally destroy the whole country in minutes, while all Iraq's neighbors could do would be surrender. Anybody who thinks Israel or the US would surrender if threatened by Iraq needs to check themselves into somewhere quiet for a nice little rest.

The French will sell anything to anyone. The only question is 'How much?'.

South Africa had its own problems back then.

The Jews didn't need U.S. help. They have brilliant scientists, home grown. The only help the South Africans gave them was a place to test the weapon. In exchange (I am guessing) Israel gave South Africa technology.

However much you or anyone else hates Israel, 400 nukes are in the equation, now and forever.

BTW. I ain't Jewish, not by blood or faith. But if I was I would be more than OK with it.

any or all of his arsenal

He'll issue the use it all order.
Much of it will have been taken out by our spec ops, and air strikes early on.
Some of his commanders will not obey, since they know to do so will get them executed later.
They're not all stupid, just afraid of Sodamn Insane.
Once the balloon goes up, they'll fear us more than their boss.

I suspect something will get launched and hit Israel. Israels response will depend on what the warhead is, and the death count.

Sodamn Insane didn't issue the general use order during GW-I,
because he'd correctly assumed we would stop prior to his being in peril.
Although I refer to him as Sodamn Insane, I don't believe he's truely nuts.
He's just a thug with no regard for his people.

Disclaimer - I'm just using the SWAG method.
