It is a psychological problem that causes these folks to chew on their hair and I really don't know what success there is in treating it. I would suggest a short hair but as a good start.

I would suggest a short hair CUT as a good start.
Folks who suffer from this condition will pull hair from anywhere--eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. Should you be interested, you can do a search on trichotillomania and trichophagia.
