For those of you without good maps of the North Shenandoah Valley, it is a paradise for druggies and others who need lots of state lines, for a 15-mile wide tongue of West Virginia, which includes Martinsburg, and a 2-mile wide neck of Maryland, which includes Hancock, are both stuck in between Winchester, Va., and the Pennsylvania line.

Thus when going north from Winchester to Pa. one crosses parts of two other states within a 30 mile trip.

All of this is just 70 miles or so WNW of Wash DC, with Loudoun County and its Wahhabi Muslim center, in between.

That anyone in Utah was even aware of this area to come to it, is a wonder.

No disrespect to the Smarts intended, but isn't it interesting how the rich, white girl gets all the media attention? Alexis is no less precious to her family and friends.

Thank you. I definitely will have a good weekend. I closed on a 2nd home out in the country 2 weeks ago, and will spend much of the weekend there. Culligan has some good ideas, I just can't believe that if he is that interested in finding Elizabeth that he wouldn't call the volunteer center to see if the park has been searched. The police are no longer searching for Elizabeth, they are investigating hundreds of leads. BTW, I have no idea what park Culligan is talking about. Sometimes I think these guys need to put their money where their mouth is.

West Valley City= A large suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah, mostly middle or lower-middle class, located west and southwest of the city.

West Virginia= A state carved out of Virginia during the Civil War, now consisting of some 30k square miles between the Ohio River and the Blue Ridge Mountains, and mostly west of the Allegheny Ridge.

A small tongue reaches eastward into the Shenandoah Valley to divide Virginia from Maryland and Pennsylvania, and that tongue is discussed in this thread, for it has Martinsburg as its chief town.

I hope you never go through something like this so people don't criticize how you look. No one has any idea what agony these people are going through. Let along how they are supposed to look.

Ann, to be fair and not to just mock, I will tell you what I think of the family and the interviews.

I am Mormon but I am interested more because it is a local story for me. I have children of my own and many of my relatives live here too. I would still be following this even if they were Catholic.

The parents are hiding something. They are lying. They won't tell us the truth. In fact, the police have told us many times that they are hiding information and the family has told that they can't tell us all that they know. The police/FBI have told them not to tell the media what they know. Try doing an interview on TV in a similar situation while having to be careful about every word you say because you have been told by the police not to divulge what you know. You want to tell as much as you know because it might help find Elizabeth yet, you don't want to tell as much as you know because it might hurt Elizabeth-reminds me of something I once heard like Loose lips sink ships. So, if the family looks like they are lying or hiding something, they are. Now, lets hope they are not hiding info or lying to the police.

Howard Kurtz of the Washington Post wrote an article on that just the other day. I emailed him and said that it is the media who is making the decisions on who to feature on their shows, and perhaps he needs to turn some of that introspection back towards his own medium. I have heard that the family and people in Wisconsin have begged the national media for some coverage and received silence. That is shameful.

Part of the reason for the lack of coverage in Alexis' case is that her stepfather, who says he dropped her off at school, after which she was never seen again, has a rap sheet which makes Bret Edmunds look like an angel. Even drove the getaway car for a bank robbery which left a police officer dead. He and the mother also put up resistance when police did the routine investigation into them, and they now have a Nation of Islam hack running around claiming their case is being ignored due to racism.

Has anyone considered a possibly renegade Mormon group having taken this child? Like a "family" in the mountains of Utah ... polygamous in nature? Or am I being totally off base and insulting to even ask.

It does seem to me, with the family's confidence remaining so high -- the neighborhood being checked and checked again that this is a possible motive and worth researching.
